Are there any girls majoring in comp sci/comp engineering?

Are there any girls majoring in comp sci/comp engineering?

I think there’s a Women in Computing org on campus. Are you a new admit?

Yes, but i feel like that i am the only girl who actually signed up for computer science major lol.

No, there’s a good amount! A lot more than other engineering majors. I’ve heard majors like aerospace engineering are overwhelmingly male, like 90%~. I would say although CSE is predominantly male, there’s a good amount of girls in that class, at least a third.

1/3? That sounds higher than is actually the case. I’m a girl and a CS minor, and I know a few girls also minoring or majoring in CSE. There aren’t a lot of us in CSE, you’re right, but it’s not as though you’re one of like, 6 girls in CS. You’ll definitely meet/find girls in CSE and if anything, you will probably bond over your underrepresentation in the field haha. You should check out Women in Computing:

They’re a pretty active organization and will help you with networking and dealing with women’s concerns and issues being in computer science & engineering. :)

how hard is cse if you never even had any experience/knowledge?

I’m a girl and will be majoring in CS too. sixth college. Don’t worry, you’re definitely not the only girl lol

I didn’t even realize that girls didn’t sign up for CS… Hahah, I’m majoring in it too! Glad I’m not the only one then. I’m in Marshall.

hi,i am a girl in the compter Engineering major,i go to csu long beach,i also feel like if i was the only girl in this major,

(compsci major) Hmm … the number will probably decrease as I go along but atm, as a freshman, there are quite a few other girls in my CS classes. It’s a lot easier to talk to other girls than in the typical class setting too. (On the other hand … I’m having serious problems talking to the guys…)
