Are There Any Guides For International Looking For US Schools?

What books might help a friend's son in Asia wanting to look at American colleges? Anything else that was helpful in your search that you can suggest?

After the usual, Princeton Review, College Board, US News, etc. for basic information, ISI’s Choosing the Right College was very thorough and enlightening, although it has pretty strong biases so you have to use your own discretion.

I haven’t found any guides specifically for internationals yet, though.

The place he should start is http://educationusa.state.gov/undergrad.htm</a></p>

After he’s read everything there, he should make an appointment with their counseling office closest to him. The advisors at these offices are the experts on getting students like him into good colleges and universities in the US.

CC also has a companion website, [American Universities and Community College Search Service](<a href=“Gold IRA Companies Assets - USA Education Guides”>http://www.usaeducationguides.com/) Click on the tab for Asian students for region specific advice.

The single most important thing for international students to understand is that coming here for college will not guarantee they will get to stay here after college. They have to have a solid plan for what do to back home after they have graduated.

I might add that Peterson’s is also a good read. It is tailored to international students’ needs. Another valuable resource will be the US Consulate’s library in your friend’s son’s country. It will have an array of catalogs, brochures and other guidance materials rarely found in schools and colleges in Asian countries.

The College P-r-o-w-l-e-r might be a valuable resource for someone who cannot visit colleges before applying.

Never heard of that one before. Thanks for the info.!
