Anyone know? I'm very curious to see how this cycle turned out considering the reductions to class size.

No detail yet...but a lot of parents are complaining to their legislators that their child was not admitted to FSU.

No doubt about it: FSU stats will be way higher than UCF's this year.

Admissions stated in an email last week that there were over 2000 on the waitlist, and that it would be after May 20th they would know more concerning whether or not they can offor admission to any students on the waitlist.

I suspect it might be after this point that they will release final numbers for 2008 admits.

About FSU's Students

This page now includes the following: "The middle 50% of the Fall 2008 accepted freshman class is: 3.7-4.2 GPA; 1190-1330 SAT (Critical Reading plus Math); 26-29 ACT.

The top quartile of our Fall 2008 accepted freshman class rivals any selective school in the nation with an average GPA of 4.43, and average SAT of 1398 (Critical Reading plus Math), and an average ACT composite of 31.

Impressive stats...even if they are "accepted". This puts FSU back with UF (where it should be). ;)

What? UF's 2007 middle 50% was 4.0-4.4 GPA, 1210-1400 SAT.

UF Admissions

You're correct. I looked at a UF page that posted the 2005 stats.

Now, as to what exactly is being measured, that's another story.

Wow, great news. So much for the whole UCF rivals FSU in selectivity thing. This is where UF was 3 years ago.

The state of Florida is projected to reach 28 million by 2030. I am of the opinion that UF, FSU, and Miami are the only true players for FL's best & brightest. The admissions will just keep getting better and better in comparison to our national peers.

Basically the future is so bright for Gators & Seminoles that we will have to wear shades.

FSU is bound to get a majority of UF spill-over, which will in turn raise our admissions selectivity.

I would rather the spill-over go to FSU than UCF. I don't know what they are telling those kids, but I am of the opinion that FSU is 1000x's better than UCF.

Evidently they have nice dorms and a descent engineering program but that is about it.

FSU is a heck of alot closer to UF in terms of prestige, than UCF is to FSU.

I'm not sure how last years ACCEPTANCE stats looked, but I wouldn't be overly excited about this. It's nothing that wasn't already predicted (a rise in gpa/SAT).

Anyways, what do you guys think the final numbers will be?

they were significantly lower last year.

FOR REFERENCE here was the 2007 data. They have not released the final applied/admitted/enrolled data yet for 2008. Won't have that probably till June at the earliest.

Admission Statistics: Fall 2007 Entering Freshmen
Applied 20,058
Admitted 9,634
Enrolled 3,742

Middle 50% Statistics
High School GPA 3.5-4.0
SAT 1140-1280
ACT Composite 25-28

FSU's new Fall SAT average for students committed to attend has risen to 1265. See: FSU Highlights

^^^^^^
Want to bet this numbe gets reduced by ~40 points by the time the real numbers for the entering class are released???

The FSU website says these are "committed to enter" students. This is more conservative than "admitted" students. The numbers, consequently, may not change much at all.
