Cal Poly SLO, I've been told, admits students solely on numbers and scores and such - no essay required. Are there any other schools that don't use holistic review, schools to which I can just submit my scores and move on?

Indiana University.

Pitt & Penn State

Cal Poly SLO does consider factors other than grades and test scores:

However, most other CSUs do use an eligibility index formula described here:
[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - Calculate Your Eligibility Index](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)
and then admit enough starting at the highest scores for each major’s freshman class.

Some other schools admit part of their freshmen classes by formula (e.g. Iowa public schools, and Texas public schools for Texas residents). Some schools which offer automatic merit scholarships for stats (e.g. University of Alabama) imply admission for those stats which produce the merit scholarships.

It would not be surprising if a large percentage of state universities admit by formula, at least for a large portion of their admissions classes.

Open admission community colleges trivially fall into the category of not having holistic review.

Most (not all) state schools are straight by the numbers. For example, University of Illinois (UIUC) publishes a chart showing admissions statistics --gpa and ACT score–for each division of the university.

Most (not all) private schools are more holistic in their review.

As long as you don’t want to apply to any LACs, you will not have to really worry about holistic review.

A&M auto admits 30 on ACT

Texas Tech also admits based on ACT/SAT scores

I believe iowa uses an index

You can look up the Common Data Set of each school, section C7, to see what is used for admission.

Holistic reviews are the exception. The majority of US colleges admit solely based on formulae.
