Really don't care or don't look at freshman year? Freshman year really screwed me up I basically had a C average with a couple D's, B's, and an A in algebra. So am I screwed if I wanna go to at least a decent university? However I am on the rise having an 85 average last year which would have been higher if it weren't for one really difficult class due to a bad teacher and my English teacher hating me for no reason. And this year upcoming I intend and know I will do a lot better using my full potential.

These average GPA's I am looking at for some of the schools are killing me, and was wondering if they really play into effect that much, and if my freshman year really will hurt me that badly.

No. A huge number of schools don’t take freshman year into account at all, including top schools like University of Michigan. I don’t have every school that throws freshman grades out but a very, very, very large portion do.

Haha yeah I wasn’t looking for a list or any kind your comment just gave me a big confidence boost thanks. I am not looking at the top tier schools, but good ones preferably in the east coast where I can major in journalism or communications.

All UC schools

UMichigan
Princeton
UChicago

Theres a huge list, someone needs to get them ALL and post the list

atleast I know now freshman year isn’t too important but it will most certainly affect my average GPA which will bring me down.

Yay! Michigan doesn’t take freshman grades! Oh wait, doesn’t matter in-state.

Schools typically recalculate GPA. The only thing a low freshman gpa can do is bring down your class rank. If you’re school doesn’t rank then there is literally 0 to worry about at a huge portion of schools (in other words, your gpa will be recalculated with just sophomore and junior)

wow so it doesn’t matter at all?

i hope they dont recalculate using + or -… wait, my school only sends letter grades. YAY
