are there any transfer applicants to Johns Hopkins?

are there any transfer applicants to Johns Hopkins??
please list your stats if you are.

my own stats aren't so good
3.6 gpa (CC)
not too many extracurric. activities (just a few clubs..i've been active though)
no honors..no awards..no nothing...
and that's about it.
oh, i had a 780 in math2C but i've never taken sat I before (not required for transfer applicants for johns hopkins)
i know it's gonna be tough
i don't think i'd get in but i still might have a chance so i'm just taking a shot.

hmm..it's so sad :(

I applied as well....

my stats-
3.3 at NYU (ouch :)

College ECs: Explorations Residential Community, Ballroom and Latin Dance Team, Habitat for Humanity, AMSA

H.S. GPA: 4.0 (rank 2/150)

SAT I : 1990/2400

H.S. ECs: Captain of Dance Ensemble, Chemistry Lab Assitant, Class Cabinet, Morning Announcement Crew, Publicist of an enviornmental community service organization, national honor society, national spanish honor society, and lots of other random ones

good luck! do you know when we exactly find out? cause on the website it just says "May". hm.

I did appy but got too lazy.... so i didnt send da paper works,,,, O well!!! Although, Im going to UC skoos!

hmm.. that's what i wish to know too dancergal
they said it was gonna be around late may..
i also wanna know if they send out their decisions by email...
(i know they do for freshmen ED)
does anybody know??

and also, any ideas on how many usually apply and about how many get accepted??

Last year, about 100 out of 800 were accepted. 40 enrolled.

100 out of 800?? wow...
they said there were around 400~500 applicants each year
but then 800??
unbelievable... it's gonna be harder than i thought!

Last year, it was June 2 before my S heard. They had said late May, but it was actually a little later. Tough to wait that long, I know.

We first heard by calling (as he had other schools whose response deadline was looming or past). Letter came soon after. Don't recall there being any email.

Obviously, it could be different this year. Last year I think they were behind their own planned schedule; don't know whether that happens often or not.

thanks for the info jmmom... i was wondering, did your son actually transfer to johns hopkins? if so, how was the transition process, and how helpful was JHU to the new transfer students?

Ok, i dont know why ANYONE would apply to Johns hopkins unless you are a pre-med, international relations or engineering major. Jhu sucks at liberal arts!

Actually, the liberal arts are amazing at Hopkins. Hopkins has one of the most highly ranked English departments in the nation...I believe it is # 7 or 8. Check out the Gourman Report, which is highly respected in academia, and ranks the various departments of colleges and universities. Art History is also a standout, as are most other departments.

Yes, there are several discussions of the the strength of various humanities departments on other threads. You can search them.

Dancergal, yes he did transfer there. I think everyone's transition process as a transfer is so different that I don't know if his personal transition is that instructive. He/we found the various depts. very easy to work with (Engineering, housing...). He got what I consider a good housing assignment in a suite with other non-transfer sophomores. His roommate was a helpful entree into activities, friends to hang with, etc.
