Are there colleges that would accept me just based on gpa and sat score?

I was just wondering, are there colleges that just look at gpa and sat or act? If there is, what would that say about the college?

Most schools do this and some are excellent

I would say that they are looking for academically talented students without all the drama of EC’s etc. Most universities in Canada are like that.

What are your stats?

Yes, and there are many excellent colleges that fall into this category.

If you are looking to go somewhere where its just gpa and act/sat go to McGill or UofT these colleges are like the MIT and Harvard of Canada.

Well, saying that U of T and McGill and the Harvard and MIT of Canada is like saying that Albuquerque is the New York City of New Mexico. While this is technically true, I would stay weary of schools that claim to be the best in a state/country because this can obviously be misleading.

Texas schools admit top 10% residents based on their class rank and some even give out merit scholarships based on SAT/ACT scores. GPA isn’t as important here, unless for honors program or some majors. You can have an IQ of an amoeba and 2.8 GPA but if you rank in top 10 percentile of a dimwit high, you can beat a smart student with 3.6 GPA in rigorous courses but ranked in 11th percentile because he went to a competitive highschool. That’s the reason they have a high drop out rate and it takes people longer to graduate because they aren’t competitive enough.

This a generality, but if you have stellar stats (GPA + SATs) the further you move down the USNWR rankings the more schools will be less holistic and admit you for your stats. This is more so for public schools once you move down from UVA/UM/UNCCH.

Kimclan1, schools don’t need to claim anything, there are several reputable World University Rankings like QS, etc. And yes, UofT and McGill are the highest ranking Canadian schools.

PhotonVortex, most of the UK schools (with the exception of Oxbridge) care about your basic academics only. Meaning SAT/AP/ SAT II
