Are there hipster/artsy frats at NU? Which ones? Are there hipsters at all?

I wouldn’t go so far as to label a frat as “hipster” or “artsy.” And I wouldn’t sound so skeptical about if there are “hispters at all” at NU. Sorry if this comes off rude, but NU really tries to find diversity and embraces people of all different kinds. Hipsters, as much as I hate to say that word, are abundant simply because the school attracts smart and tasteful people (what hipsters, I believe, tend to be).
On that other hand though, when a hipster calls himself a hipster, he’s basically lost that title since he’s trying to hard.

I don’t really think I answered the question, but in short, yay for hipsters but nay for the artsy cliquish frat.

I just asked our S, who is in a frat and he said yes. When I asked which ones, he said “That’s for him to find out.” Go in to rush with no preconceived notions and when the time comes, you will know where you fit.

Enjoy!!

What you’re asking is a bit of a contradiction…

Yes there are hipsters at NU, why join a frat?

Tons of hipsters here. No one frat i would define as artsy, but a few have a bunch of hipsters. Some houses will embrace different kinds of people, where as some houses are a little more closed minded. Original post was in July so I’m assuming you’ve been a student here for the quarter and figured it out for yourself.

It’s not a frat, but there is this awesome artsy hippie house off campus that I’m living in. It’s called MOSAIC Co-op, and its a wonderful place with lovely people that I am so glad to have found.
