My major will be computer science. What is the average GPA for CS majors transferring to Brown?

There haven't really been enough transfers in recent years that I think that kind of information is useful. Our transfer process is super variable from year to year, some years taking 100 students, other years 25 or less.

I'm not sure the information is available or particularly useful. Claysoul will probably chime in as one of our resident transfers with some more information that applies to transferring in general.

ahem
and I shall

it changes violently every year. My original class had 140 transfers. The next years class, which I rather assimilated into, after taking that first year off, had just over 20. The next year was upwards to 100 again. It all depends on availability of dorm rooms and other factors that change based on retention rate, people taking leave, people going abroad, etc.

So suffice to say, Brown is not as hard to get into as a transfer (in MOST years) as say Yale, Stanford, Pomona, or Swat, which have notoriously tiny acceptance rates for transfers every year, but it's still very, very difficult

Another caveat is that Brown transfer admission is NOT need blind. That means if you are a fin aid applicant, they basically hold it against you in your application. You have to be an extra cut above to get in with substantial need. It of course happens (I was one of these people 20 out of 140 though 50% applied for financial aid), but it makes it harder. This is imnsho a very inequitable policy. It's all or nothing. Either you are accepted with full aid or rejected.
