I'm taking SAT on october 5th
I already took 5 practice tests from the blue book

got 670 first time
630 2nd
620 3rd
600 4th
680 5th

it seems that I do the first 2 math sections PERFECTLY ,for instance on my last practice I had only 1 mistake" the others are omitted " ,my only problem is the LAST math section;
the one including 16 questions,I don't seem to get higher than 12/16 " other 4 either omitted or false",I find the 16 question-section so hard ,harder than the first 2,is this intended?
I really want a 700,I got 580 on my first official sat exam

how can I advance?

Good luck, with the way that it looks like the math scales from 700+ getting it would be a nightmare.

The 2nd and 3rd times are a bit low, but good job on the 1st and 5th times. Personally I would study even more and try for a 700, but 680 isn’t bad either :)

For my mother a SAT score of 500 was amazing. She is not mathematically inclined. What defines “good” depends on the student. If you’re testing in the low 600s for Math on the practice exams, you’re on target to have a Math score that is better than most who take the test.

It all depends on one’s goals.

MIT? Low 600s on the Math is a bit on the low end for them, changing them from a reach to a extreme reach.

Most State Tech schools? Low 600s would make you competitive.

Have you gotten a chance to work through all the Blue Book exams (perhaps focusing on the math only) and all the online SAT course exams? If you keep a journal of all the mistakes you make, you can usually find a pattern to them. Then you can drill the mistakes away.

@stronkstudent:

Your first statement scared me a little, because my math score was actually the lowest of my 3 categories when I took the SAT. But I agree that it really does depend on the person, lol. I compensated for the low math score by getting an 800 on Critical Reading and a 750 on Writing. So it’s okay to get a bit lower on math as long as the other categories are high.
