Are These High Enough to Send Anywhere?

Hi everyone. I'm going to be applying as part of the Class of 2014 as a freshman [best of luck to everyone btw] and I wanted some advice.

I have two SAT II Scores... 710 on USH and 710 on MATHII.

I will most likely be applying to the following schools:
1) Dartmouth
2) Brown
3) URochester
4) Pepperdine
5) SUNY Geneseo
6) Brandeis
7) Boston College
8) Middlebury

Only #1 requires SAT II's with ACT.. oh by the way, I'm sending my ACT score only. And #3 reccommends it. The rest only require the ACT. But, if my scores are good, then it might be beneficial to send them.

If I send SAT II scores with my ACT to let's say Boston College for example, where they only require the ACT... would my SAT II scores even be looked at or not? And is it really worth it? Thanks=]

Apply. If you don’t you may regret it. I almost didn’t apply to my dream college and I ended getting in. What are you going to lose??

Thanks for your response, but that’s not what I was asking.

Would love to have some more opinions on this, bump.

I would say yes. It would have been preferable, especially since you have Ivy League on there, to have the scores above 750, but I think you’ll be good for the majority of the schools on your list.

I would say they are ok for everything except Brown and Dartmouth. However, it never hurts to have a 750+. The problem is that no colleges (at least none that I am aware of) publish stats about Subject SAT scores of admitted students. The only info I have seen came from MIT’s website and it said that “competitive students usually have 700+ on their subject tests”. Hope this helps.

So for your list, yes, but anywhere, namely places like HYPSMC, especially if you are going for a science/math major, they need to be a bit higher. So no in that case.

Welll I have to send them to Dartmouth because they are required, so no choice there. And by the way, I’m not going to be a science major… probably social science=]

Social sciences, nice! But in that case, the score range is probably less competitive than for, say, an engineering major, especially for the math, since so many good math people take them for that field. Not completely sure about the history test, but try to do some research on how competitive the field is for those universities. The fewer people apply, the more lenient the scores get, relatively. I know someone who got into HYP with not stellar stats, but applied for a linguistics major, so it was considerably less competitive and she got in. She’s going to Yale.

Yeah, I understand what your saying Biggie. I have a feeling that psych majors might get a bit more leniency over math majors when discussing Math II for example. Yeah, I’ll probably be a psych major…

You know what? I just feel like that sending them won’t really hurt. I feel like they might be average-ish for Brown/Dartmouth and would help the other four. Am I on the right train of thought here?

Yes, I understand that anything over 700 is considered respectable and as long as your SAT I scores are within range for these colleges, no worries.

You are correct, I was just saying what would help. Once again this goes back to the whole holistic approach thing that colleges use when looking at your application. If you don’t have time/don’t feel like taking them again, just sent these ones to the schools listed above, and there’s no way it will hurt your application.

Thanks everyone for the input, I’m gonna send them.=]
