of these, which is the hardest to get a good GPA for premed (3.5 +) and in what order, and how succesful are these respective colleges in sending their kids to med school

Boston college
New york university
colgate university
university of rochester
u-mich ann arbor

anyone who has a thorough answer please respond
thanks alot, i need some help wit this

why do u say that rochester has grade deflation...what are some examples...are there particular departments that tend to deflate grades or is it an overall thing?

it's not really grade deflation...it's more like grade fairness. Professors are helpful, etc etc, but they dont sit there and make easy tests...or tests that they feel are 'fair.' Instead, they have this mentality where they expect a certain amount of information to be challenged on an exam, which makes the exams challenging.

classes are in-depth, and even in entry level courses you go into great depths through guest researchers from across the street or something.

Yeah, so classes are hard - but they're hard at any good school , and the thing is in hs i found that hard classes were sometimes unmanageable, whereas -anyone- can succeed at UR if u try, no matter how dumb u are.

Regardless of having some challenging classes, the administration has some nice added features to class scheduling in general, such as the abilities to drop courses up until the last day of class, or pass/failing with ease. Its also impossible to get kicked out of this school - you have to really try - they'll send tutors and academic services, and play around with ur classes until you do well.

Professors at many schools bring down the average if they think it's too high. This is especially true for classes that the college wants to be known as "challenging". In a chem class I took last quarter, the class average was 75% (where I personally think it should be), so the professor told us he would make the next test harder. He did, and the average was 65%.

How would u rank the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor? according to US News its got a top 10 med school. but overall (according to US News) it ranks about 25th, behind schools like UVA. any thoughts on this??

medical school is entirely different from an undergrad program. I hate those lists because they are all based on irrelavant facts anyway. The Naval Academy isnt top 10 yet you will probably recieve one of the best educations there then most ivies.

Its the same concept as the high school list...its measured on how many AP's and stuff you have, that doesnt make a school good.
