Are they done?

So i havent heard of anyone being accepted within this week. Does that mean they're basically done accepting people and getting ready to send out the rejections all at once?

According to quite a few CCers, there’s another round of letters coming out on the 15th. It should include acceptances and rejections, I assume.

No absolutely not done, I wouldn’t even say a fourth of the acceptances are out yet. I go to a very large HS and no one has recieved a decision who is non top 8%. Target date is Late February according to the site. The only reason people may have been accepted is because they are high high qualified. This straight from UT admission site…

“Some decisions about admission to competitive majors can be made only after the applications from all applicants to that major have been reviewed. That means that most decisions for these majors cannot be made until weeks after the application deadline.
A few highly qualified applicants may receive an early decision even if they do apply to a competitive major”

They definitely aren’t done with acceptances. My S’s status says that because he is a leading candidate, he is guaranteed admission, but it also says that they are still reviewing his application to make a decision. He is OOS.

@chemcolo

What are you talking about when you say your “S status says that”
What is “that”?

Chemcolo is referring to the status of his/her son.

Right. sorry I wasn’t clear. My son’s status says he is a leading candidate and is guaranteed admission, but he hasn’t received the letter yet and the status box still says they are reviewing his application.

Where is the February 15th date coming from? I just called admissions and the woman I spoke to said she was unfamiliar with any rush of decisions being released on the 15th. Review admits, according to her, will be receiving decisions (acceptances and denials) until March 1st.

Yeah I don’t really see where that date is coming from either. I think it may just be rumors

february 15th is mentioned repeatedly because UT originally intended to have all decisions out by that date.

but since they’re backed up from 32,000 applicants, they won’t reach that goal.

^ Back in January, several of us were independently told by admissions personnel that all decisions would be completed by Feb. 15. So that is where the idea came from.

It sounds like they are not going to be finished by that date. The website still says “Target Date: Late February.” There are scattered reports here of early March (for certain programs).

Considering UT received a record number of applications (like so many schools), I am sure they are pedaling as fast as they can!

Good luck to all!

Ooops! Cross-posted with jamtastique. Great minds. ;)

Oh, I see. I only remember references to late February ever being mentioned, though.

Good luck to everyone!
