are they serious?

okay so i just learned today that the AP tests will cost $100 EACH (at my school, at least).

what the FHDGSHAFG? doesn't this kind of annoy anyone else? they call it a "mandatory donation" ...and this is from a "nonprofit organization." it really bugs me because what if you can't afford to pay for a test, let alone the 4 that i want to take? doesn't this discourage people who are want to take higher level courses for the education and challenge due to the cost of the test? what the hell.. is there anything that can be done about that?!

LOL yeah... i guess this is kind of a rant. leave it to me to do it on CC rofll.

It's a hell of a lot less than a college class.

Mine is $80.

You can get a waiver if you're financially challenged and pay $30.

i guess :(

The price of the AP should be $84. Find out why they are making a $16.00 profit, as they already get a piece of the fee to cover administrative costs ($8). If you don't like they're answer, contact the College Board to see if it's OK for your school to "scalp" the AP exam.

At my school, you don't have to take a school administered exam (which counts towards GPA) if you take the AP exam. For me, its worth the $250 so I don't have to take any finals. :D

haha thanks bigis for the advice

AND ^ ARE YOU SERIOUS? danggg i wish my school was like that hahaha. so much less stress!

I'm serious. And after the AP exam, I don't have to go to those classes at all, so from the beginning of May to the last 3 weeks of school, I get out at 11:00 every day! :D

My school is 71 bucks for each AP.

In my school its free, its school's budjet
It is sad to see how others write of such high costs of AP exam fees, education should be not for the rich and the aristocrats!

u can get a fee waiver i'm sure. and it's not education, it's a test though i agree that the price is high. I think it's like 8 dollars here

13$, new york city

my school district makes each AP student take the corresponding AP test for his/her respective AP classes. the fee is $15, no matter how many tests you take...

The school might be charging for hiring proctors to administer the exams. Our schools charge $83 (less with fee waivers). Some parts of the country have school systems who will subsidize the fees in order to get more kids taking the exams (and making their school systems look better).

My school charges $84 per exam, but I go to a private school.

it's subsidized... so...

holy crap, that's a lot of money!
I didn't even know you had to pay for AP exams until this year (and I took AP spanish last year) because my school pays for them. I'm glad.

sigh I know. I took 4 exams last year and I had to pay full price for it.

And it's always a big deal when you can't get fee waivers. We don't qualify because we're not that poor. :/

$100? At my school the exams are like $80-ish, but they pay for them for you.

I'm even getting my self-study AP Comp. Govt. & Politics Exam paid for in full, as well as the textbook for it.

WOW!! some of these prices seem crazy, at my current high school they are $52 a piece, but at my last high school they were $82, so I guess it all depends on where you are and what the school decides! :/

they are 84 bucks at my school in AZ, my sister and i will probably take 9-11 exams this year O.o

they were free at my old school in Georgia
