Are too many extracurricular activities a downer??????

Im filling up the C.A and under Extracurricular Activities and Work Experience i got this message after hitting add for the 6th time (or something like that, i already have 12)

"Other Extracurricular, Personal And Volunteer Activities You may report any additional Other Extracurricular, Personal And Volunteer Activities in the 'Additional Information' area."

Im 23…
Im putting the year abroad, a volunteer job, a photography course, basketball , tennis for fun, painting, violin, summer exchange program, a job/hobby on sales, writing unplublished books, and some other jobs.

tennis for fun might not be worth mentioning. same with basketball unless u played for school team or something. if you’re 23, then idk how that works

Your situation is different than most people filling out the Common App, since your EC section consists of much more than school clubs. I’d consider grouping similar jobs together, leaving out recreational sports and other activities, and keeping your unpublished books. You can attach a more detailed resume in the Additional Information section.

Hi thanks a lot, so would it be ok if i put them this way…1-year abroad/ 2-summer abroad/ 3-travelling (or should i omit this one since im giving an explanation on the taking a gap question?)/ I was part of a bb and vb team at a sports club so 4- basketball?/ 5-french, photography and impro? or do i separate them?/ 6-translation job, sales, teaching-tutoring, tattoo designer (should i omit being a tattoo designer?), animator, video presentations for companies/ 7- Writting, including 2 unpublished books/ 8-recreational: violin, tennis, piano, painting, interior decoration, website contributor.

Not in that order, but what do you think?
glassesarechic, that kinda grouping is what you are talking about?

P.s Im not in the states, Im international, we dont have school clubs, and few schools have sports rep teams and such. But I go to a private sports club.

It somehow comes off as if you are throwing everything againt the wall just to see what sticks. I suggest that you list only the most important things on the CA. Then, you can make a separate resume. Work on presenting it in very concise format. You might group by subheadings by like items. Try to shape a ‘story’ about yourself.

Do not omit tatoo designer, it is interesting and will get some attention. Likewise writing books on your own shows some fortitude. The recreational sports you do on your own for fun are less compelling. Same with casual hobbies that you don’t spend much time on. You have to edit this laundry list.
