are top companiess / MBAs possible for those who go to mediocre colleges?

i messed up in high school, im in my sr year - i plan on taking out a lot of student loans to go to a private college and either stay there or if possible transfer after 1 year. i know its not too late, n i plan to work hard in college, i just wanna see what kinda disadvantage im looking at here.

thanks

Work hard, stay humble, network -- you should be fine.

you dont HAVE to go to a private college...

its next to impossible to get into a Bulge Bracket Ibanking firm or top consulting firm from a 2nd rate school. good luck.

I have three friends, one went to an IVY League school, one went to a top 15 private school and other went to a top state school.

They all worked hard and guess what--they are all IBankers at top BB firms.

Unless this private school has incredible Ibanking recruitment I'm not sure it would be wise to get deep into debt and bet on securing an Ibanking position. Worst comes to worst, work a few years out of college and then head to a top B-school and then head to a bank.

Connections and you better get a 3.8-9+

according to alot of ppl on this forum, if u dont go to a top tier school ur dream is over.

But really, thats all bs. Get a high GPA, network, and the other **** and ull have alot of oppurtunities. I mean sure a person goes to HYP, but he wont get any interviews with a 3.0.

yeah I agree^ people here tend to exaggerate

"its next to impossible to get into a Bulge Bracket Ibanking firm or top consulting firm from a 2nd rate school."

How do u know the OP's school is second rate? Just because its not an IVY or mit, stanford,nu,duke,um, ?

To the OP
- Of course it's possible. Just find another way to stand out.
