I’m a transfer student, and I was accepted to my preferred university with “the stipulation I send my final transcripts.” Right now I currently have a 3.2 GPA, but I’m going to fail a class, which will bring me down to a 2.8. My GPA this semester is estimated to be a 2.2. According to OneIU, my application to IU has been accepted as long as I provide my final transcript. I’ve spoken to three different individuals from the office of admissions. Some have told me my application will most likely be rescinded when I send my final transcript, others have told me that will most likely not be the case. I plan on retaking the class I failed this semester over the summer, but I’m freaking the hell out. What should I expect at this point?
Can you drop the course without it affecting your GPA?
@philbegas there is usually a cutoff date to drop classes and the semester is basically over.
@thenomeer who did you speak to in admissions? An admissions officer or just someone working in the admissions office? The only clear answer would be to get one directly from IU since none of us know their policy.
Is there any way you can speak to the professor and explain your situation?
I mean we do not know the schedule, so it didn’t hurt to ask.
I think if you make it clear to the University that you’ll be retaking the course again over the summer they’ll give you another shot. Under the stipulation that you’ll come out with a C+ or higher. Don’t wait for you application to be rescinded, see if you could work out a deal with admissions. Prepare for the worst in my opinion.
