here is info about uc application verification program UC sleuths seek proof for glorious claims on admission applications - San Jose Mercury News

Interesting, but the article made no note that transfer applicants are checked.

I think, as the article implies, that this is a bigger issue with freshmen. These freshmen applicants have very similar stats, and it’s the ECs and essays that set them apart. For transfers, ECs and essays don’t mean nearly as much (for most majors).

the article stated that 1 percent of the 134,000 applications are checked…i’m pretty sure that number includes transfer applications, but yea, it is probably significantly less than freshmen for 1% of 134,000 is 1,340 and if 1,000 of those are freshmen then that leaves 340 transfer applications being checked…

OMG.Please Please Please send me one of these letters. My ECs are at a level that few other students could have reached (top 1% of real estate agents nationwide 2 out of 3 years). If you get a letter like this, you know someone thinks your accomplishments are impressive. If you were honest, UC investigators are great!

Selling homes to poor people is not that impressive. What makes it worse are shows like million dollar listing, which implies that any trendy looking trust fund kid can sell a house. I don’t get how rich businessmen trust their homes to emo kids who carry around puppies in a man purse (Referring to the show). That wouldn’t impress me if I were an adcom.

adam4homes, are you being serious?

OHH NO…

what’re they going to do, verify my employment? verify that I ran a few 5ks? umm good luck…

Vintij, why so bitter? A lot of people are proud to work in the fast food service industry like you. No need to be resentful.

@adam

You just sound like an elitest jerk right now. Look no one on the forum cares how many homes you’ve sold.

I mean if you sold top 1% 2 out of 3 years you should have enough money to not worry about going to college. Especially if your that good at something why switch careers.

or… did you get fired and your sales were all to under qualified buyers.

Honestly if you sold that many homes i would stick with your day job.

I’m not sure if Adam is serious or not in some of his posts. Sometimes I think he is just playing around and lightening the mood on CC, other times it seems that yeah, he’s an elitist a-hole. And btw, the 1% are RANDOMLY chosen. Admissions do go through sometimes and ask people to verify amazing talents and ECs, but for the most part, it is just random. So no, getting a verification form does not mean the UCs think your ECs are amazing. People have gotten verification forms before to make sure they worked at In-n-Out during the summer.

I’d be more impressed by a burger flipper than a house flipper. Don’t have to regulate burger flippers, or worry about burger flippers choking the economy half to death. And the top 1% of burger flippers the last two years probably still have their job. If you ask me the world needs more burger flippers and less house flippers. But you didn’t ask so carry on.

This resentment tastes delicious. I thank you all.

clap clap adam, you’ve got it all!

adam is an idiot for thinking that his ECs are any good. I am a 4 time NBA champion, 2008 NBA MVP, 2009 NBA Finals MVP, 12 time NBA all star, 3 time NBA all star MVP, scored 81 points in one game, and I’m earning $23,034,375 this year just from my day job. pretty impressive huh?

haha. you beat us all lakerforever24. psst- its kobe bryant! Go lakers haha

I’m not impressed lakerforver24. you’re just a ball hog.

didn’t you also have a major criminal trial because you did something with some chick who didn’t want it?

I am innocent.

oh she wanted it. that and the other 5 dudes semen they found on her underwear…seriously how do you even manage that woman?

Thanks shaq. I always knew u had my back. I’m sorry I forced Mitch to trade you.
