Are UCSD and UCSB accepting Winter tranfers next year?

I didn't apply for Fall 10' bc I still need a few more classes so I want to apply for the term that is immediately following that. I remember reading somewhere that some UC's are not accepting Winter transfers anymore? Is that true? Also when is the application period for that term? I'm talking about next winter of course, not this one.

you can’t…

because of state budget cuts… UCs don’t do that no more…

Ok so what’s the next closest term I can apply for?

hoonpv: Please provide a reliable source for where you learned that all of the UCs will not be accepting Winter Transfers.

Little_Duck: Many of the UCs for this past application period for Winter 2010 did not officially indicate they would be doing so until around late May/early June. The filing period was from July 1-July 31, 2009 and seems to follow the “apply in July” pattern in previous years as well.

Unless hoonpv can provide where they learned that there would be no winter applications accepted, you will most likely have to wait until each UC announces whether they will be doing this or not for Winter 2011. My advice would be to continuously check the admissions page for each UC you are interested in. I have yet to hear either way from an official source whether Winter 2011 applications will be accepted for any UC.

Hopefully notice will be given much sooner next year than it was given this year ;)

Here were the filing periods for this year:

Offhand, it looks like Davis, currently, does not plan to accept Winter 2011 or Spring 2011 applicants: [UC Davis : Application Basics](Undergraduate Admissions)

Santa Cruz does not typically accept Spring applicants, but is not yet confirmed either way for Winter 2011 applicants:
[UCSC Admissions - Transfer Admission](Transfer Students)

Irvine seems to be currently intending to accept Winter 2011 applicants, but not Spring 2011: [Application Filing Period](http://www.admissions.uci.edu/applying/filling_period.html)

Merced does not specify they will be or will not be accepting Spring applicants (semester system so transfer would be into Spring, not Winter), but they do indicate when the filing period is. However, the apply page only shows that the application for Spring 2010 has ended: [Admissions FAQ | Admissions](http://admissions.ucmerced.edu/admissions-faq)

Santa Barbara indicates to check their website in late spring to see if they will be taking Winter applicants, no indication of a Spring applicant possibility: [UCSB Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucsb.edu/faq.asp?subsection=9)

And that’s just the information I was able to find in a quick google search. The basic message from most of them, though: check back later to see if they will be open for Winter/Spring 2011. So thus far, your only guaranteed next term you can apply for is Fall 2011 if you do not apply for Fall 2010.
