In the housing thing Binghamton just sent out, I saw that toaster ovens aren't allowed. What about coffee makers?

I definitely know someone planning to bring one (he should probably insert an IV based on the amount of coffee he drinks) but I think it does violate the housing license. It has a hot plate (usually) which I think is banned.

I’ve heard the dinning hall coffee isn’t terrible though.

I’ve never been questioned by an RA about my coffee maker, nor have any of my friends… though I guess technically it’s not allowed. But nobody is going to care though. And the dining hall coffee isn’t terrible, as long as you allot enough time in the morning to go get some before class!

I talked to my roommates and we decided that if we feel like we really need a coffee maker in the room, we’ll chip in for one, but we’re going to try dining hall coffee for now! :D

FYI, The new coffee in the dining halls SUCK!

my friend has one! Just hide it for vacations which is when they inspect ur rooms to see if you’ve violated anything

I thought online it said that you can’t bring exposed coils- like hot pots. We bought a one hour shut off just in case!

Hmm when I first came to Binghamton, toaster ovens were one of the things they suggested that you bring. I had one…

just bring anything you want. They’re not allowed to go into your rooms without the permission of you or your roommate. If they do go in without your permission, they also have to let you know in advance.

But yeah, be careful if you do bring something that’s not permitted. If you burn down your room with candles and they said no candles, you’re going to be in a lot of trouble.
