Are we going to need suits if we're going to be Business Majors?

How often will we need to wear suits? Is it expected of us since we're majoring in Business?

I’m sure that depends on the school you attend, but at the minimum you will need suits for job interviews, career fairs, networking events, and class presentations (which probably don’t occur that often). Most of this activity would occur in your jr or sr year, but I guess there is the potential that it could happen earlier than that (especially if you are pursuing internships as a freshman/sophomore).

It’s always better to overdress for employers than underdress. I had 2 suits in undergrad, but it’s quite possible to get away with 1 if you keep it in good shape.

Once you enter the workforce, the dress will vary greatly based on the employer/job. Some positions require suits, others business casual, others shorts and sandals.

ah, just get fitted now, while we’re in a recession and the suits are cheap…:)

I have one at the moment and I only use it for job interviews and some formal events. That’s all.

I never used it for class presentations because it wasn’t required and I just think it’s unnecessary.

At my school, at some business clubs meetings they sometimes require you to wear a suit if some company is doing a presentation.
