Okay so following this thread a little more and the schools suggested, I would underline for you–
Clark – it’s psych program is famous ,in addition to what was already said–and her stats would garner merit I think
Earlham – always on my family’s shortlist as it’s got such great mentoring practices at the school and it’s a phd feeder school. Stats would garner her significant merit, IMO
I’d also suggest for her–
- Bryn Mawr/Haverford combo – the two excellent schools work in combo with each other. She could choose which she likes. BMC offers significant merit. H offers mert to 15% of students who don’t show need. She’d have the option of also taking classes at Swarthmore and UPenn if she attends either H or BMC. It’s low pressure. H and BMC are two of the top Ph.D. producers in the sciences (as per the NSF) based on percentages of students that go into STEM ph.d.s not raw numbers. While they are small, they are really part of a larger consortium and they are about 11 miles from Philly with a train system connecting them. They have music – while the music dept is formally at Haverford, as I mentioned the two schools work together and share depts. H has studio arts for example for the two schools while BMC has geology. There are combined depts among the three schools such as linguistis with Swarthmore.
