Are we restricted to official business?

Hey, I've been looking at all the threads for a little while, and I'm fairly excited out of my skull to be at gtown next fall. All these questions and updates about official business are great and helpful, but I was wondering: can we talk about random stuff? I know a bunch of people who got into Notre Dame, and they're on message boards posting about stuff as serious as Terry Schiavo and as random as the OC (mind you these are guys). In any event, I was just wondering if anybody wanted to start off the ice-breaking a bit early. I guess I'll start this thread by asking about music in general (always struck me as a good way to get to know people). My favorite band on the face of this or any other planet is the Red Hot Chili Peppers - Anthony Kiedis, John Fruscianti, Chad Smith, and last but by no means least Flea just make the best and most heartfelt music I've heard - period. Comments, disagreements, other favorite bands? Bring 'em on, let it flow - let's get the party started. And by the way, if I get completely ignored, it's cool - I'll be asking all of you guys this eventually anyway, and if the replies tell me that this is not the place for random stuff, could someone please direct me to a place where we could start talking about random stuff, cuz that's usually a bit more fun than asking about the orientation weekends 30 times. Talk to you guys later.

everything from the Killers, Ciara, Usher, Nelly, 50, Kelly Clarkson, Hilary Duff(YES I DO), Simple Plan, Linkin Park, jimmy eat world, evanescence, beyonce, mario, the game, etc.

A rather non-discriminating taste, I see. The Killers are awesome, I love them. Not a big rap fan, but to each their own. You're clearly somebody who at least enjoys music, and that's what counts. Thanks for not making me feel stupid starting this thread.

FYI, there is another forum (last one listed) called College Confidential Cafe - that's a good place to talk about random stuff.

Don't get me wrong - talk away here as well. I think its great for Georgetown students to get to know each other here in a smaller setting.

Hilary Duff? raises an eyebrow

Anyone watch last night's episode of 24?

In response to redr002 - thanks, I was wondering if there was anywhere else people were just talking about whatever they wanted. But the Cafe is for anybody from College Confidential. I was hoping to have it be just Georgetown kids - like I said, an icebreaker. And, although I've never seen 24, stuff like that is exactly what I'm talking about.

hey tlaktan, leave HDuff alone, lol :) After you hear Fly on MTV 10+ times, you'll like her too, haha, j/k.

Yeah Polaniman, i like basically everything, except country and most techno.

I'm a huge 24 fan, and I also like eating bread and sugar...what about you Polaniman? (I'm not a freak, it's a bit of an inside joke.)

But yeah, Jack Bauer is my hero. That was so ill when he stabbed that guy (twice!) and then he was just chillin' there with the guy's dead body behind him. That's the stuff dreams are made of.

Music from my iPod is in this order: Trust Company, 9 inch Nails, Audioslave, Lostprophets, Weezer, Green Day, Hot Hot Heat, Beck, Acceptance, Theory of a Deadman, the Used, Tegan and Sara, the Mars Volta, Sum 41, Velvet Revolver, Louis XIV, Doves, Papa Roach, Killers, Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance...

that's just a taste... ;)

I'm glad to see people like Jimmy Eat World. I'm seeing them next month and I'm way excited.
I also like Incubus, Brand New, Dashboard Confessional, Guster, Death Cab for Cutie, and many many others including of course the Beatles.

Was anyone a fan of Mitch Hedberg? I know it's completely random, but I'm still depressed that he died.

daria, i'm seeing Jimmy Eat World on the 20th! Can't wait!

Awesome. Tell me how it is. I've waited a few years to be able to see them. They can in August but it was a huge concert where they were one of like 40 bands so I didn't think it was worth it. What's your favorite album of theirs? I really like them all but I love Clarity the most.

okay, Regis, you know what I just realized? the fact that like 10 other kids from our school are going means that I'll still to some degree be known as diabetes boy. wow, just when I thought that georgetown was completely perfect.

As far as music goes, netshark, I love Audioslave, and I was wondering (don't think I'm an idiot, I just don't pay enough attention): do you know when their next album comes out, and if it already did, ignore previous question and tell me if it's good.

sorry, i don't know...

INCUBUS..they rock my world! then theres guster, the ataris, the killers, three doors down, franz ferdinand, less than jake, finch, dashboard confessional, saves the day, taking back sunday, deftones, static lullaby, the juliana theory, keepsake, trendy faded, and of course...nirvana.

I like all sorts of music...art and garfunkel, the beatles, bjork, red hot chili peppers, evanescence, linkin park, david usher, the decembrists, belle and sebastian, and so on, sometimes I listen to classical music and soundtracks to movies and musicals.

I assume you mean to say Simon and Garfunkel, because Art is just Garfunkel's first name. I love them too. I'm glad you guys have good taste in music. I definately approve.

Yeah, thats what I meant
