I had no idea about the existence of these tortillas, I will have to check our Costco!
I admit to being excited when I learned how to pronounce schadenfreude!
I have a ādesigner dogā or at least it was one about 15 +/- years ago. Inexpensive though and most people donāt know what she is.
Iām a running and exercise snob. Most folks that I see in the gym or on the road have poor form and need a coach/trainer in a bad way. And these same people will voice/complain about their various injuries.
Of course, I internalize all this and keep my mouth shut unless someone asks me a question and Iām happy to help them.
Yes, I just looked it up!
I am probably a snob when I feel superior to someone else, even if I donāt say anything to them or otherwise react.
An organization I worked for hired a new leader. She would send out emails and written documents on behalf of the organization, and they were full of grammatical errors, misspelled words, etc.
I was horrified and it REALLY bothered me. I felt it reflected poorly on the organization.
I asked a trusted colleague if she felt this was an issue, and was surprised to hear she hadnāt really noticed it, and when I pointed out multiple errors in a recent communication, she didnāt think it was a big deal.
The leader had higher degrees so it wasnāt due to educational level.
I never mentioned it again, except to occasionally vent to my spouse. But I did make me think less of her.
Any organization with a person in charge with any degree should know how to use spell check. And how to write a simple letter without glaring issues.
I would notice that also.
I would not be able to remain calm about that! Wow!
That would seriously bother me, too. Wow.
15 years ago when I was touring private preschools for S21, I immediately removed one from consideration. Why? At the end of the tour, they gestured to their wall of newsletters and other materials so I picked one upā¦and immediately found two errors, including the wrong use of ātheirā.
DH thought I was being unnecessarily judgmental but I told him that Iām not sending my child who will be learning these skills to a school that either doesnāt know the difference, or doesnāt bother to edit materials that are reflecting their schoolās skills and values.
I do tooā¦yet, I had a dog that probably had its start as a designer dog but found itself in rescue (after being pulled from an abusive home by police). She was terribly fearful for months, years, really. You donāt always know the history of a dog and itās person when you see them on the street.
Yeah, that was basically the reason why my Grandma made them. He was spoiled and would have pouted like a baby if she had suddenly started buying store-bought tortillas.
I canāt afford to be a snob.
Things Iām snobby about:
Beerāit has got to be some cool craft brewery. If they get bought by InBev then they are dead to me.
Music-- Pop music makes me crazy. I like the ends of the spectrum though (punk, bluegrass, āAmericanaā (aka Alt.Country))
Soccer-- Iām snobby about the need to support your local club. It doesnāt count to say you are a fan if you only watch national teams and some European club. Also extra cred if you have a favorite team in the lower levels of the English soccer pyramid.
Agreeāmy late best friend was introduced to craft beers by his son, who took him to a craft beer festival where he was able to taste all kinds of wonderful flavorful brews.
His comment to me was ā____________, why did our fathers and uncles teach us to drink such crap?ā
They taught us to drink crap because that is really all there was for most of country until the 1980s if not later.
Some of the imported beers of that era are still better than the swill water most call Budweiser.
I donāt know if Iām a snob or not, but my friends and family do tease me about my preferences. I am very picky about food.
For example, I live about an hour away from an area where fishermen sell their catch. Last fall, I bought a whole salmon, and now I cannot eat any other salmon. I did not like farmed salmon previously, nor did I like certain types like coho. It now has to be wild king salmon off a boat.
Also, I am very particular about coffee. It has to be freshly ground and a certain type and it must be very hot. Cannot stand sorta warmish coffee.
I also try to get fruits and veggies at the farmers market. After eating produce from the farmers market, anything else tastes like plastic. When people say they donāt like a certain food, I think in many cases itās because they havenāt had good quality or in season or prepared correctly.
Iām also very picky about pastry and treats. I will not eat store bought items. It worth the calories.
I donāt know if snob is the right word, but Iām really fussy about my surroundings being free of clutter and being very clean. I feel so much better if Iām in an open uncluttered space. Last year, just before COVID, H and I had to clean out his motherās house. H let his niece live in the house after his mother passed away. After living there for 10 years, niece left unexpectedly to live with her brother. When H and I got to the house we were shocked. (H grew up in OH and we live in MAāand hadnāt visited in a long time.) The house was disgustingly dirty and filled with stuff in almost every room. I think the niece had issues and was probably a hoarder. It was sad.
I am the same. Clutter makes me twitchy. I wouldnāt say I am a minimalist, exactly, but my propensity toward, āless is more,ā is often perceived as judge-y by others.
But you are not judgmental. You just like what you like and feel comfortable with.
My Ex MIL lived in the country and decorated very differently than I do. I would never want to live in her house. But it was beautiful in that decorating style and I loved visiting and being in it for awhile. I was amazed at how well she did it. During the Longaberger basket phase she had 100 baskets in her dining room and kitchen, you would never know it. Her wallpaper, decorations, curtainsā¦all not my style, but it was beautiful.
I just bought my husband a bunch of new clothes. He has never and I mean NEVER bought clothes for himself ( his clothes were bought by his mother until he graduated from collegeā¦he was still wearing only those 8 years later when he started dating me., then I bought them). He did not ā¦and does notā¦ care what his clothes look like and while the kids were growing up and we were saving /spending for college I bought him cheap things. At the beginning of last year I thought it was time to get him new clothes and then well you know. So just recently I started getting him new things and decided it was time for nicer clothes. Iāve told the girls that under no circumstances are they ever to tell him what an Eton shirt costs. Lol. But he literally has no idea what the things I have bought him cost. And if you think he will ever know what my Chanel purse costsā¦But he knows he doesnāt know. He knows that the info is being kept from him and likes it that way.
