Are YOU afraid of spiders?

Okay so I’m collecting data for my stats project… I’m posting this in three sub-forums to get a stratified sample... here, the transfers forum, and the café. Please answer the question somewhere in your post. I’ll do the counting so don’t worry about that. I will post the results by the end of the week in case anyone is interested.

If you don’t know if you’re afraid of spiders, google image for some pics. I’d post some links here, but I hit the X immediately when I see anything that resembles spiders… or snakes, for that matter. >_>

Thanks for the help!

Nope, most of the ones I see around me are the tiny little ones. Now if it was a black widow I would change my vote, of course that is going to scare most people besides the crocodile hunter.

....the tiny little ones are the scariest

i'm not scared of the small ones but daddy long legs are the scariest thing in the world. esp since when you kill them they twitch for 5 more minutes.

daddy long legs aren't spiders though.

I guess I'll have to say I'm not afraid of them... while I might be if they start crawling on me, I can deal with being in the same room (except really big ones which we don't have anywhere around here...) , and looking at pictures of them.

Spiders are so scary!

I'm definitely afraid of spiders of all shapes and sizes.

No .

None whatsoever. I've personally dealt with female black widow spiders - and they are amazingly cool. So shiny.

Inspired, I now have a pink toed tarantula (Avic avicularia) in my room, right above my bed... :)

Enjoy.

usually only if they crawl on me, in which case i flip out and look like a psycho.

other than that if it is huge, weird looking or a wolf spider (i think that's what it's called), then yes i'm very scared.

I don't like spiders but wouldn't like some crawl on me or be in one room with me. I'm afraid centipedes and cockroaches though.

There's a massive spider that lives in the corner of my bedroom.

Right above my bed too.

I call him Sparky.

We're fine and dandy.

i'm not scared of spiders but i think they're absolutely disgusting. It's gross seeing the long thin legs move about and the thought that spiders have more than 2 eyes!!

I'm scared of the small ones. I like tarantulas though~

im not scared of them. only poisonous ones. but i dont come across those very often.

I kill them too quickly to really gauge my reactions...

But anyway, I would tell people that I'm not scared of spiders.

The thing that I am most scared of in the world are those medium sized spiders. Mostly because I was downstairs you night watching TV at 1 am and a bug was walking across the tv. I was not at first sure if it was on the tv so because I was stupid went up to the television and poked it, thinking that it was on the tv. To my surprise the spider jumps into the air and lands on me. Because the room was totally dark except for the light of the tv I could not see where it was on me, and thus had a nervous breakdown, because this was no small spider. So to answer your original question, Yes.

Unless the population your specifically trying to study is people who post on CC, you are going to get a strongly biased inaccurate result that any competent teacher will rip apart.
That said, I am more horrified of spiders than I am of death, bears, George Bush, and the apocalypse(i.e. not getting into cornell)

^he has a good point. At least mention it's a convenience sample so the data cannot be taken for granted...
not scared of spiders, but I'm scared of mice and rats

Not really. I just get a tissue and kill it when i see it. I might freak out if i was sleeping and it was on me or something lol. But I would just kill it.
