Are you an elitist? If so, to what extent are you?

Yes. I only talk to people who use Crayola crayons and not that cheap Rose Art BS.

No, I am not an elitist.

elitism (n) - consciousness of or pride in belonging to a select or favored group.

If I get accepted to one of my top choices I’ll certainly have some pride for that. I also felt pretty proud with test scores for a couple weeks, but mainly because everyone in the school was all like “huzzah, keellota!”

I don’t consider myself “too good” for people, though. That is part of the general connotation of the word.

Yes.

I definitely like to associate with intelligent people, but only because they’re the ones that I have the most fun with-- not because I like to feel snobbish.

Absolutely

Sometimes I try not to be, but sometimes I will fall into an elitist mentality.

Senior Year, I plan on laughing at the kids who got accepted to the State Schools as I open my acceptance letters to top publics and privates

Wow. I’m sure you have many friends

Actually I have plenty of friends, and im not surprised you didnt sense the sarcasm in my post, since this is the internet

What is this word, sarcasm, you speak of?

Sarcasm: a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark

I think a lot of people would consider themselves to be intellectually or educationally elite, especially if they take AP courses.

Heh. Guess you missed my sarcasm to your sarcasm :p

^ Haha true :D

I don’t know if I qualify as an elitist. I’m at the top of my class and most likely scored the highest (or at least close to the highest) on the PSAT in my grade, but I don’t really isolate myself from kids who don’t do as well academically. Actually, (although tests like the PSAT and SAT may not be the most accurate gauge of “smarts” and academic ability) most of my friends scored at least 20-30 points lower than me on this past PSAT. I don’t really brag about my grades or scores though, unless I’m just kidding around. I don’t think I’m a super genius, but I’m proud of my accomplishments.

Yes and no. Yes, in a sense that I have high standards and don’t like to put up with laziness and mediocrity and no because I come from a very, very humble background. I have worked hard for everything I have in life. I don’t take anything for granted.

I hope not. Although, I have been called that by a few people.

Same here, everyone calls me elitist because I am not impressed with most colleges that kids go to, and people assume since I’m hard to be impressed that I must be an arrogant elitist. Most of my friends are not that bright, and I enjoy both helping them, and learning from those who can help me. I generally am very derogative of comparing scores and or looking up to the PSAT’s, funny enough in my school I’m considered a genius but on CC and my WOOT course I’m definitely on the bottom, so i recognize this and it humbles, me, :D
