<p>I consider myself an elitist, but not so much in regards to academics or intellect. The thing is, only one person in my school has gone out of state to a selective college in recent years. That was last year and she went to Amherst. I’m going to Northwestern next year, which is considered a big deal at my school. </p>
<p>The elitist part isn’t that I was smart enough to go, because many kids at my school were capable of going. The difference is that I made the terrifying decision to go out of state, when my classmates are taking the traditional route to our state’s schools. (Which, admittedly, are kind of awesome.) I guess I’m proud of making the uncommon, scarier choice, and I like the attention I’ve gotten for it in my town. I’m afraid it’s gone to my head, and I’m a tad arrogant too.</p>
