Are you applying anywhere else?

Hey everybody! I was just wondering, to those of you either accepted or deferred: have you decided to apply anywhere else? If so, where? And why?

Hoya Saxa!

Yeah, I applied EA also to BC, Fordham, and UConn, just because they offered early action and I wanted to know early about other schools (I was accepted at all 3). I also applied RD to BU because I'm hoping to get a full scholarship there. Once I got into Georgetown, I decided not to send in my apps for Tufts, Harvard, and Brown.

Well I had already been accepted to the University of Michigan Honors program and the University of Wisconsin @ Madison before I received the Gtown letter. I had also already sent my application to Tufts, but I'm considering withdrawing.

I'm also applying to (or have already applied to) Stanford, Brown, Yale and UVA (for the Jefferson Scholarship thing). Hopefully I'll be finished by tonight so I can totally chill over break.

:)

Notre Dame and Brown here.

Laurenh87, I applied for the Jefferson Scholarship thing too so I know what fun that application is. Good Luck! It is a great oppotunity.

Sportula: That app was an absolute nightmare! It makes me so mad that I still have to fill out a regular UVA application in addition to that horrendous Jefferson app! Were you one of the winners? If not, how far in the process did you make it? The scholarship would be an absolute dream, but I know my chances of winning it are slim to none.

Well, on the bright side at least you can re-use the essays. No I didn't get the scholarship or make it past the first round where I was up against like 40 people or something. All I did was the part where you are interviewed by, like, eight people. Not fun. It was a little different for me though because I am from Charlottesville and am always at UVA so I under no circumstances wanted to go there. I was honored to be nominated, but I would have rather not been because it meant if I got it I would bave had to go, and I didn't want to go at all because I wanted to go to Gtown. So I was relieved when I got a letter saying I hadn't been picked. I still applied to UVa, but even with Echols I picked Georgetown.

Thanks for the response, Sportula! I'm glad it worked out so well for you. I have my interview on January 3rd and I'm so terrified. I usually love interviews, but I don't know how I'm going to handle having 8 people doing the interviewing! What sort of questions did they ask? (If you can remember)

First of all, don't be nervous because the interviewers were very nice. It's almost more of a discussion than an interview. All of the questions pertained to my application that I can remember. For instance, I founded the Jane Austen Club in High school so one of them asked me why I thought people love Jane Austen's books as much or more now than they did when they were written. I've also done a tone of stuff with Classics so one of them asked me why I thought Latin, though a dead language, was still relevant. I had talked about my interest in travel and one asked me where I would go and why. I was also the President of the Honor Council and National Honor Society so we had a long conversation on cheating and honor and why it's important etc..I think there were some random question too, but I don't remember them. Also, don't feel bad about being a silent for a while before you answer-that's okay, and way better than pulling something off the top of your head. Or if you don't understand the question ask for clarification. Feel free to email me if you have more question about or UVA because I've lived there my whole life and about half the people I know go there.

Well I'm stil applying to Brown, Dartmouth, and Penn. I really am rethinking Penn, though, because it just keeps getting less and less appealing...

i have nine schools getting back to me on April 1st.

Besides Georgetown (my first choice for private universities), I have applied to Stanford, Washington and Lee University, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, and UC Riverside. I was guarenteed into UC Irvine, but didn't apply. Being a Californian has its advantages with the Univ. of California system.

Daughter also applied to Brown, Yale, George Washington, American, University of Miami, and FSU.

Yeah, the california ELC thing is great. I was accepted into UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara without applying, but I had no interest in either, so it was kinda pointless.

Other than SFS, I applied to Brown, Columbia, Lewis and Clark, and UC Berkeley. I nixed my Harvard, Reed and Tufts apps when I got into gtown.
