Are you going to attend UCR? You got accepted?
Tell me why or why not and everything you know about UC Riverside!
I'm thinking of going to this school but I am still undecided. Please help me (and others?)

Well naixn, I’m still waiting for my other UC decisions. I’m definitely going to attend " UCR Discover Day" sometime at the end of March. There is one day for each college (CNAS, CHASS, BCOE). I can’t tell you much about the school yet since I haven’t visited it. But, I recommend you go to “Discover Day”. You should have gotten something in your email about it. Best of luck on deciding where to go for college!!

Here is the link if you did not receive it…

ACTUALLY…

I may attend here even if I get accepted to cal poly slo. Reason is I ultimately want to go into medicine or dentistry. I applied to SLO as a food science major(which doesn’t fit all the prerequisite requirements) while I got into UCR for Bio.

So, UCR is tied for first.

mrdtt18, thanks for the post.
well, i would like to go to Discovery Day but living in the Bay Area, it is kinda far to go there, especially when you don’t even have a car…
what college did you apply for?

I’m probably going to Discovery Day. March 20th at 10:30 for us CNAS majors.

Socal70, I so want to get into Cal Poly SLO for civil engineering! I think its way better for me but unfortunately, i don’t think i’ll make it there. Thats why i’m planning to go to UCR.
Isn’t Discovery Day just like a tour? do you get to talk to professors and stuff? i really want to meet the faculty.

I got into the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS), Biological Sciences.

Yeah. I think it’s a day for us and our families to just explore the campus. I think there’s going to be various booths from clubs/different careers/etc. I think it’s like 9:30 for engineering people and 10:30 for us science majors.

I agree with naixn92. I live in the bay area also and it’s really far for me to go to UCR. My parents don’t have the time either. :(

naixn: if you’re going to choose UC Riverside, I would recommend it for Engineering. I’m an undergraduate Computer Engineering major and so far I have no problems with the Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE). They have a really great environment and filled with pride and want to help you succeed, but there is no Civil Engineering program at UCR at this time. I’ve heard rumors about them starting to create one, which may be true because BCOE is really only 20 years old.

in general, I have no problems with UCR. I like the smaller campus, you can get anywhere in 10 - 15 mins if on campus. and there is a lot for the students still available because UCR isn’t as big as other UC campuses. The problem I have is that it does get pretty hot during the summer time.

SweetMemories, thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, I won’t attend UCR next Fall. I’m almost sure that I will go to Cal Poly Pomona. I just like the hands-on approach more. Plus, UCR doesn’t have my actual major. I did talk to some admission officers and faculty at the BCOE. They all said that they wanted to have Civil Engineering as a major but because of budget cuts, it won’t be created before I graduate from college. UCR is appealing but they don’t have my major =(

anybody attending UCR for business???

i got in for business, and im just waiting for the other UC decisions. but im most likely going here if UCI doesnt accept me.

same here :(

@Ultomato me too sigh

UC Riverside and UC Berkeley are well known for their Business Programs/Major, within the UC system. So if you’re thinking of going into business, those two schools are probably good places to go to for your undergraduate career. :] Just throwing it out there. lol, college isn’t about where you go, but what you plan to do for your major and future career(s). (:

Well said Forevermore!

UCR and Cal are the only UCs with undergrad business programs. We also have a graduate business college for those who want to go on to get a MBA.
UCI just recently started up their business program, however are not yet fully accredited. The University must run the program for a few years, then apply for accreditation, which can take time in itself. Not to completely put down UCI, UCR and Cal have business schools that have been around for a while and are very well set in stone.

Don’t think UCR business is any easier either… My 4th year buddies that have been staying up all night with me studying for their auditing class final will be more than happy to echo that!

Good luck!

Thank you =D Yours is well said as well ;D

mmmmaybeee coming here. im still debating between whether its ucr or ucsc

I’m in the same boat, probably opting for UCR since its closer to home.
