Are you going to attend your HS Prom?

EVERYONE goes so you must too

It’s way too much money to pay to go to a dance with a bunch of people i don’t like

you should… after all it not something that you’ll ever get a chance to do again. And it is highly unlikely to be THAT BAD

^ Still way to much money

^ How much is it?

^ That is a fair enough reason then… If is it mad expensive then I can not argue with that logic

I’m going :). I already know who I’m asking (the same girl I went to homecoming with…) Hopefully she says yes.

That is all.

Definitely going! It’s an excuse to party with your friends and go dancing and dress up in a fancy, classy, sexy dress. And the afterparties will be even better. Plus, prom is cheap for my school. It only happens once in your life. I think it’s worth going.

Yes, only because I’m the class chairperson. Otherwise, I would be at home looking over my apps. (My prom is in December)

Debating it. Administration does not allow any contact below hips or any bending over more than 15 degrees. No grinding etc.

^So…what happens at 16 degrees? O.o

^^ That sucks man, where do you go to school…Utah?

I don’t think I would ever go to a school dance if grinding was banned. I mean what the hell do you do, the fwcking electric slide?

I doubt that I’ll go to prom. I went last year and it sucked. All my friends trying to convince me to go this year have told me it was because of my date (who admittedly was an AWFUL date), but most of my friends also said it sucked.

The music was too quiet, food was terrible, and my date was terrible. It just doesn’t sound fun.

If there was no grinding at our dance I would sue the school system for refusal to grant us our first amendment rights to freedom of expression.

the constitution doesn’t apply at school, didn’t you know?

I never would have seen myself going to Junior Prom, but I took my best friend and it was great. The whole experience is actually pretty nice. Even if you don’t like to dance, you can just talk to all your friends, hang out, and have a good time. So many of my Asian/Indian friends went, and I never would have thought they would go.

^^It sure as hell doesn’t at my school. I got accused of going to a party by the school administration. My 6th amendment right was denied, and I didn’t get to face my accuser. Never did actually find out who ratted on me for that.

^^^ And don’t even get started on the right to bear arms…

Prom seems really dumb to me. I don’t object to the idea of a formal dance for high schoolers, but people make such a huge deal of it, to the point of destroying friendships over it. Some of my friends spent ALL DAY before prom getting their hair, nails, etc. done, from about 9 AM onwards.

I spent MY day clearing brushwood.

Okay, I am famous at my high school for loving the dances. I go to Exeter High School in NH (yes, right next to the acclaimed Phillips Exeter Academy). Our. Dances. Are. SICK. The dancing is either equal to or better than club dancing: I’m talking about grinding. For those of you who don’t know what grinding is, look it up. It’s hot, sweaty, and damn sexy for both dancers. We have 1,600 kids at our school, and at least 1,100 came to Homecoming '10, easily the best turnout ever. Want more proof we have awesome dances? The Boston Globe…sorry, lemme repeat that, THE BOSTON GLOBE, called us “Sexeter” (I have a t-shirt haha) in an article two years ago.
Now, i don’t know your opinions of dancing or if you think grinding is morally wrong or corrupt or ungodly and i also could care less. Just don’t be like one of the maybe three people at my school who argue that grinding is wrong; here, you’re lame if you don’t go to the dances haha. There is really nothing greater than letting off steam after midterms by grinding with hot chicks for hours on end (or guys, for the girls).
I am saying this so that maybe someone will read this and maybe GIVE THE DANCE A TRY. I can’t stand people who say they don’t like something if they’ve never done it. So give the dances, and prom (we have 2 a year, I’ve already been to two!) a chance: high school comes once, give it a chance for God’s sake.
