Im thinking of transferring next fall as a sophomore (already applied), but one negative thing i keep on hearing about the school is the people. I thought usc is supposed to be a really diverse school, so why is it that i always hear that its filled with a bunch of rich kids? one of my problems with my current school is the lack of diversity/everyone here being rich, white, upperclass kids. and i'm hoping usc isn't like that. Also, aside from the economic aspect of students, i've heard that a lot of the people at usc consist of frat guys w/ elitist attitudes and girls who are hollywood/football groupies. How much truth is there to all of this, and what has your experience been like with the people at usc? please help me out, i'm tryin to make a tough decision here.

Yep. It's all true. You wouldn't fit in. Don't come. Anyone who can't look up enrollment data wouldn't do very well at USC.

The "University of Spoiled Children" label comes from haters.

About 60% need financial aid. 20-25% is Asian. 45-50% is white. About 10-15% Hispanic and 5% black. 7-10% are international students. There's more females than guys by a few percents.

The Alumni network is extensive because they're so successful. They generally give back a lot to the University. There's a lot of school pride.

All of USC's professional schools are top tier. And its academics have been growing a lot over the last decade.

That's a pretty critical question for a school you seemingly want to go to (you applied)....

A wise choice requires research on your part, and polling the USC forums on cc isn't enough. Wouldn't it make sense to visit the new school and really look around before you make another leap?

I can see why a student body lacking diversity and characterized as being "spoiled" would be unappealing, but why throw "rich" in there like every wealthy child possesses a serious character flaw?

Anyway, to answer your question-

That reputation, as mentioned earlier, is from a different era. Of course, like at every private college, you may very well find a few "spoiled rich kids," but you'll that the majority doesn't fit this label.

it was proven that UCLA's family income average was higher than USC's family income.

I agree with acarey....wtas so wrong with rich people...some of the nicest and smartest people i know are stinking rich

I also agree with aj16, acarey617

Most rich people I know works very hard, makes lots of sacrafices, and are highly intellectuals. At the same time, I also know lots of 'not rich' kids super lazy and just complaining. Spoiled kids cannot be determined by wealth.

agree with tsdad, don't think korean_halfbreed would fit in

I personally do not know any spoiled kids named rick at USC.

lol

every private school you go to there will be. USC has this reputaition because its students' money is made more obvious by the cars they drive. but i agree, rich people can be just as nice as poor people. if not better.

@protokurious: hahahaahahah you beat me to it.

hhmm....i didnt get what protokurios' said...(is it something to do with Quixoticrick??)

I...didn't get it either. DX

Take another look at the spelling in the thread title. Then you will get it.

Lol guys, you need to be more observant :p

lol...k i get it...theres just way too much reading involved in blogging

I noticed it after I had posted. xD I didn't even see that. Now I can't help but laugh.
