I don't like it.
I just wish I had done more.
I'm finding myself regretting the fact that I dabbled in useless things and didn't go for the stuff that really truly interests me.

My school is HUGE, and there is a plethora of opportunities. I'm just angry at myself for not seizing them.

I really enjoy my high school! The teachers are great, and I have many friends, and the extra cirricular activities are great.

My only complaint is that everyone who isn't White, Straight, and mormon is descriminated against (I live in Utah). I only fit one of these 3 so needless to say it's rough, but that's what my friends are there for.

I am really happy in school, but dissapointed... in the past years, the academic level has decreased a lot. 4 months back i did homework, now i go home and chill. it is all because of the schedule. i am taking 4 exploratories of 6 classes. i take photography, art, ethics, computers, english and spanish. i will get to 11th grade and not remember biology or algebra or sociales. it will not help me academically although i have a 90% average GPA

High school is great with good teachers, a lot of money (my school is in its 5th year right now), a lot of programs/ choice of classes, etc. The only problem is that there are too many Mean Girls-esque cliques, so its really hard to get to know people from other "groups" any better than as mere acquaintances.

I am honestly miserable. Not to sound emo, but I hate my dark, crowded, windowless school, my inept teachers, my alcohol-obsessed friends, and my ridiculously easy classes. "One more year" is currently my mantra, although thanks to Post-Secondary enrollment I'll only be taking 3 classes in the building.

It's alright. I could be happier, but I'm a futurist, so I'm always looking forward towards better things to come. I think I'll be most content when I hit college, provided I get in somewhere besides Maryland (in that case, it'd be high school all over again). It's really funny, because people always say I'm the happiest person they know, but I really think hs is pretty lame.

1) Pointless. Forced classes that have nothing to do with what I want to accomplish in life
2) Stupid hierarchies. There aren't even cliques that make it bad- it's the teachers. They discriminate against comprehensive students ("regular" kids) and act as if the honors and AP classes should be filled with gods. The administration also discriminates against Hispanics and ghetto-looking African Americans, while leaving Asians, Whites, and smart looking African Americans to act up and never get caught.
3) Sucky friends. My friends are cool, but I don't have the tight circle that I used to have in middle school, which was a small private. I love having a hundred plus friends, but I'd dump half of them just have that great group of 5-10 who gets along great and does everything together.
4) Appearances. Everyone feels like they have to stick to one look, and that's that. 5 people chided me in one day for wearing a Hurley t-shirt (skater-surfer style) with an American Eagle sweatshirt (cheap prep).
5) Social issues. Remember Pride and Prejudice, and the whole introduction thing? Well, our school, sadly, still works upon a system like that. You could hang out with someone 4-5 times, but if you aren't formally introduced by a mutual friend, they won't talk to you when they see you alone. People won't help some nerd who's dropped all their books because they are afraid of the social outcomes.
6) Lack of worldliness. I miss the intellegent conversation we had- in freaking middle school people were generally more intellegent than the people in my high school honors classes! The only class where I see anyone of above average intellegence is newspaper- and that's because we need to be up to date on that sort of stuff. I often carry the New Yorker around, and people will look at it- assuming its fashion I guess- and then throw it back and tell me to stop reading magazines full of boring words.
7) Bad start. I was really depressed at the beginning, and since I was coming from private school, I really needed a good fresh start. So I alienated a lot of people who I would have liked to become friends with, and became friends with a lot of people who I would have liked to alienate. But everything's pretty much balanced out now.

I'm certainly not suffering in high school, in fact, I find many things very enjoyable, but I think I would have been better off staying at private school. And I also can't wait for college! I love a new chance to make new friends.

I hate school. Everyone is so concerned with their own well being, no one else. My school is really small and I don't think that a single person from our schoo, alumni and present, have gone to an Ivy League... Hell, I don't think anyone has even ever applied. Plus, no one in my school, 75% of my friends included, takes AP courses... most of them don't know what they are and are also failing Intro to Biology... So yeah, I'm sure you can understand my hate.

I love my school. It may not be the prettiest, newest, or the best, but we have quite a few jewels around campus that make everything just right. HS is what you make of it...and I had a great experience.

I could be happier in HS, but overall the expirience hasn't been that bad so far. My main complaints are the pointless classes that I will never need and all the cliques. Other then that things are pretty good right now.

TheMagicalSpork--you will get some pointless gen eds in college as well.

Example: Cold War History. Interesting stuff, but I'll probably never use it as an elementary ed teacher. It's good to know as far as current events are concerned sometimes just so you know the past but it's something that won't make a difference on my career.

I love high school. It is too big to have traditional cliques and most of the teachers are awesome. We have more classes then even some small colleges offer and something like 100 clubs. There are over 6,000 kids so you have a really big and diverse group of friends. My only complaint is that there are 4 buildings you can switch between and Michigan winters aren't fun.

It has its ups and its downs. I still wish that I could have stayed at my old school, but I guess that's part of life. My school now has such a different atmosphere than my other school. I've always been kind of a loner, but I was never actually alone until I came here. On the other hand, the academics are stronger and I have more opportunities here. But still, I can't wait to get out. College couldn't come soon enough.

im a senior.
have hated all four years of high school.

my school's like the O.C., set in a rich suburb of seattle near redmond. all the jocks, popular girls, math club geeks, techies, and emo kids all hate each other. little diversity, mostly white. everyone's rich. often, i feel like I'm the only person with any sense of respect and level headedness here.

My high school? I hate it. No honors, not many AP's. They don't let you take more than 3 AP's a year. They don't believe in higher educational options.

As for the people, I met some of my best friends there.

Great teachers, great education, great facilities. Some nice people, but mostly unwilling to speak their opinion. I'm not meant to go to the kind of school that I do (small size, limited student population, religious), so I'm unhappy feeling as if my time could be better spent with different students.
