Are you kidding me.........

I just took a Barrons Writing Practice test and I got 22 out of 75 wrong. What does that translate to....like an 18? I am worried now though.

Barrons is known for being MUCH harder than the actual ACT. But 22 out of 75 wrong, according to a few actual ACT practice tests I have, is approximately 1 24. That probably won't help you AT ALL though because Barrons is ridiculously more difficult. Don't they have a conversion with the practice test?

Don't get discouraged! Take the test on the ACT website - I guarantee your score will be much higher.

Where is that? I tried finding it, but I couldn't find it.

Good luck.

with the practice tests, i once got 22 wrong on a science section, and i got so discouraged. DONT freak out. those tests are generally MUCH HARDER than the actual test

This is terrible. How do you guys know what your score equates to? I just got a 26/40 on the Barrons Science section so what should that be around? These tests are so hard.

doesn't the practice test come with a scoring guide?

I can't find it in Barrons. All it has is where you calculate your percent correct.

Yeah, Barron's annoyed me for that same reason.

Don't worry, I missed way more on Barron's than I did on the test. =)

How many (on average) did you miss on Barron's test and how did you do on the actual thing... if you don't mind.

I honestly don't remember the exact number, but I could say maybe 2 on Math, a few more on Science, but a good 8-9 on English and Reading both.

Compared to a 36, I'm convinced Barron's is significantly harder. :P

Barron's is a horrible book for the ACT. Use the Official Guide to ACT by the ACT.

I used Barrons and got a 19 on their science section. I got a 36 on the science section when I took the real test though.

The ACT online program is actually very good. I took one of their practice tests, and only one...and my composite score turned out to be exactly the same as the one I got on the test! :)

How can people know their score on the Barrons tests? Is it just the number right or what?

No idea, I couldn't find the conversion anywhere in the book. I just know that missing as many as I did would have NOT been anywhere close to what I got on the real test. :P

Did the actual study material from the book help you much?

It helped me review the couple of math things that I couldn't remember 'cause I hadn't covered it for ages. :P

It also clued me in to dangling modifiers, and now I feel stupid for not having realized what they were for all these years. :(
