I don't know what to do. And of course multiple choice scores come out three days after the deadline for the October ACT...

I’m most likely retaking in october, but I have to meet deadlines so it’s the last one I can take (today was my first ACT). But you can still sign up for the october test after knowing your september scores, just pay the late fee. This is what I am doing.

What was the big deal with the science section? I practiced quite a bit for the science section, and it seemed of about average difficulty.

the last conflicting view passage had experiments + graphs or w/e…never seen this 3 in 1 type of thing lol

@nikoru

I was thinking about just waiting to see my scores and just pay the late fee, but I am worried the testing center will fill up. All the others are kinda far…

I’ll most likely have to retake… Science was just absurd. I’ve gotten 32-34 on my past science sections, but I’m expecting around a 26 this time…

Guys - If the specific section was especially challenging for you, chances are you aren’t alone. We took the test, let the ACT company do the rest. They will adjust for the difficulty with a curve. Sign up for October ACT and if you do fine on September just don’t go to Oct. ACT. Simple. Or wait to see your score and register late.

some are saying they grade on a curve based on previous years…and not of that specific test you took.

How much extra is the late fee? Like $15? Really, it’s up to you whether or not you want to take it again. I’m not sure how the curve works, but if you really think you did that terribly, then the curve probably won’t give you the score you want either way. I saw people earlier acting like getting 10 wrong would equal a 30; there’s absolutely no way that will happen.

If you’re on the fence, then I’d say you should just wait until you get the scores and just pay the late fee (it’s pretty obvious they planned it that way) if you want to retake it. If you feel like you definitely will need another shot, then go for it. But I really don’t think any of us can answer this question for you.

But seriously, this is my second “real” ACT (I’ve practiced with old ones, though), and the science didn’t really seem much worse outside of the conflicting viewpoints passage, in fact I personally think most of it was easier than the April science section. Maybe I just knew more about the topics and it made it easier to find the info?

Perhaps. I took five practice ACT tests prior to this one, including the official 2012 to 2013 packet they send out. I got scores ranging from 29 to 31. I always finished on time too. This time, I had a whole passage left and I was not very confident about my answers.

Feels bad man. I think I’ll just go ahead and sign up for the October… I don’t mind taking it again if I have to. I just wish I could know what I got right away. I would wait for late decision but I am concerned the test center will fill up.

Thanks for all your opinions too.
