Are you serious?UCSD TAG is this really happening?

So I think I have a bit of a problem. So I was planning on doing a TAG with UCSD, this Fall, and my counselor had said my gpa should be fine and everything would be all cool beans, but then, I saw on a TAG sheet that one can not file a TAG with UCSD, if they have done any university courses outside the USA. Ok hold up.... I did one semester last fall at a Canadian University, and did not do well in those courses. But now this? Is UCSD FOR REAL? My counselor nver told me this and the admissions woman in San Diego never told me, but I saw it on one paper. Maybe I misinterpreted the tag? Can someone clarify with me what to do, can i really not TAG with UCSD becuz of the one semester at a Canadian University? Wait, is Canada considered the same as America, maybe they meant outside USA/Canada. My gpa will be about a 3.5 cumulative gpa by the end of this Fall.

i really wish UCSD would get outta TAG like they want to. they are beginning to be nothing but an eye sore.

Exactly Uckitty! Im so frustrated and upset at UCSD, granted it was my backup, but seriously last year they only had to have a 3.0 to Tag. unfair…

apply regular. why are you shooting to UCLA / UCSD? whats wrong with the other 5?

& what is your major?

but UCSD is so annoying already, they, from what i heard from my TAG counselor, UCSD never really even wanted to be apart of TAG, which is why they raised their GPA to such a high number. SD is overrated IMO anyways.

disclaimer: kids don’t aim to the best sounding name school just to impress your parents/cousins, thats all short term.

all across CC is applicants talking about nothing to UCLA/UCSD/UCB, as if Davis, or even Merced is not worthy enough for them, especially the overseas applicants. so annoying blahhh!

but anyways dfl, i hope your dreams work out and everything, consider other schools, weigh your odds, i dont know, theirs alot out there for you :)

well you know it’s only the UC with the best weather, in the best area, with one of the best campuses and with one of the best programs for many majors

I couldn’t TAG UCSD last year for that reason. Don’t bother trying.

arent their alot of spanish and black gangs terrorize SD? thats what gangland said on the history channel.

i didn’t apply to UCSD TAG, but i had a similar frustrated story. i was intending to apply for UCI TAG - one of the reasons why i had chosen to go to CC in the first place - and it’s not like it was that hard to qualify for it. then i found out that AP credit was not allowed to count toward the units required for TAG. and all i needed was one measly unit. so that was depression all over.

anyway: what i’d do is contact your counselor/transfer office as they are MOST aware of the changes to the TAG process, and can confirm your questions whether they had meant out of USA/Canada or USA. if that fails, go call UCSD. go to the sources THEMSELVES for full confirmation. if it turns out that UCSD has screwed you over: just apply (if it’s your back-up school, that must mean you think you have a good chance getting in even without TAG, i’m assuming) & try out the Chance Me Threads with your stats to see where you stand. 3.5 is a pretty good GPA, but it all depends on your major and what school. good luck.

UCKitty, are you serious? San Diego is arguably the best city in the US (I have lived all over, born and raised on the east coast, then in the military), La Jolla where the campus is located is pretty amazing. Out of my friends who were born and raised in SD the one with the best graduated from UCSD.

blahhhhhhhhhhhh @ ucsd

What UC do you go to? Oh wait you don’t.

What eps of gangland I like that show

La Jolla is as safe as you can get…It has 1 violent crime per 1000 people…That’s 5 times less than Berkeley.

Why don’t you try getting a 4.0 GPA and improve on your ECs? Then you won’t have to worry about relying on getting accepted through a program, but through your own merits? I think it’s funny when these sub 3.5 students come on the forum and complain about not being able to go through a program to get accepted and what not, as if they’re entitled to it. I’m not knocking those with this range of GPA, but only the ones who feel they deserve something. For those complaining, pay attention in school, get the highest GPA, volunteer if possible and you’ll have no worries about getting into a school such as UCSD.

im sorry what mr sdsu?

I’m perfectly happy with SDSU, I got into UCR (I know it isn’t the best UC) but I like San Diego better. At least I am in, you are still a hopeful even though to try to portray yourself as a UC student.

[With low acceptance rates, SDSU enters new chapter | The Daily Aztec](http://www.thedailyaztec.com/2011/04/with-low-acceptance-rates-sdsu-enters-new-chapter/)

Looks like SDSU is becoming pretty competitive for entry.

im not hopeful, im good. thank you.

■■■■■ @ portraying myself. kay.

updated my location, just for you. <3

you can apply without TAG. also, if your major is impacted, TAG means nothing.

Last I checked, this is still a UC forum, so you can post the SDSU stuff elsewhere.

Someone else brought it up, calm down.
