<p>Avoiding Dallas at this point is not security, it’s security theater.</p>
<p>A reduction in the <em>feeling</em> of being at risk with no corresponding reduction of actual risk.</p>
<p>@megpmom is correct. If you are a healthcare worker, especially in an ER, or if you have been in west Africa recently, you have some level of risk. </p>
<p>Other people, if you want to minimize your risk for death, don’t text and drive, make sure you are up to date on your adult vaccines, stop smoking, and maintain a healthy weight. Those measures will reduce your risk for early death way more than avoiding Dallas. </p>
<p>Headed to Dallas on Thursday to sit in a hospital for several days while my mom has surgery. Not Dallas Presbyterian, however. But, I will be using hand sanitizer frequently - always do when I visit hospitals. Definitely not worried about ebola, more worried about MRSA and other common bugs. </p>
