<p>Yes. Doing well on Subject Tests will only bolster your application.</p>
<p>“Recommended” is a very strong word. My recommendation is to do what colleges recommend you do, for the sake of your admissions chances.</p>
<p>I talked to a UC Davis admissions officer about this issue and he said that students who have taken SAT II tests and done well on them look better in their eyes than students who have chosen to forgo the tests.</p>
<p>He also mentioned that he recommends all prospective UC applicants to take a shot at the SAT IIs regardless of if it’s required or not.</p>
