true,true amused

Grad2005, I was very much like you in high school.
I have a 2.2 gpa now.

wait... if i get all a's as a senior, i can get a 3.22222 anyway :D so... Time to go all regular, get a's, then join a ton of sports teams and clubs for that ec goodness :D

wow. that's me. i do everything last minute. there's this other girl in my class that studies and works for her grades like crazy. she prepares for tests days ahead of time while i look the stuff over for 1/2 hour the night before or maybe right before the class starts and we generally get the same grade. i almost feel bad since i don't put as much effort into it, but i'm ranked 1 and she's 2. i ALWAYS procrastinate... i'm procrastinating right now by reading this board...

"I've also always been lazy. I do all my homework at the last minute, I get perfect test scores after reading just the summary, and manage to win the favor of teachers despite the fact that I sleep in their classes. While my procrastination skills have allowed me to master the art of the bull***** (i.e. writing amazing essays on books I've never read), and the rushed report (i.e. whole independent studies within the span of two days.), I'm a bit worried about how I will handle college."

My "studying" habits are very similar to yours. I can't bring myself to do my homework until the last minute because of such distractions as this website and Friedrich Nietzsche :)
Maybe if school wasn't quite so boring it would be easier? In any case, I worried in middle school that my procrastinating would screw me over in the future, but overall, it has only made me more efficient. Of course, this hasn't helped me with my math disability, which will probably get worse in college, but I find it extremelly difficult to do schoolwork when I'm not under pressure.

Exactly like me. All my homework is done in the class just before it’s due with the first class’s homework done waiting for school to start or walking to that class. It’s really bad for my exams. Last year I studied for 10 minutes total for finals and ended up with a worst grade of a 96%. I’m in high school right now, so to anybody in college, will this come back to kick me in the a$$?

One strange thing I’ve noticed though is that when I actually do my work the night before, it takes me longer (well no sh**) than when I do it at school. Also the quality of the work is surprisingly better when done at school.

To Slipstream99: She’s actually trying to deceive you in thinking studying is insignificant; exceptional grades can be achieved without utilizing time to read the material or practice. This properganda is for her intention to take your position as first in class.

I think I’m in the middle. Sometime I have to actually put in a fair amount of work for a grade (points at ap chem), and others I can fall back on my general ability to absorb information quickly and general intelligence. Sometimes I actually find it disappointing that I can acheive an A on an AP world test by studying for an hour and a half the morning before, or putting in a grand total of five hours of cumulative studying and get an A on cc midterm, while everyone else gets Cs. I feel a little guilty that I’m not putting any real effort into it, yet getting better results than people who do. I feel like I should at least be challenged in some way. But that is only most of the time, I have plenty of challenge in chem and math. Haha.

Uhm..this thread died 2-3 years ago.
lol SDMS12…I think it’s too late. =

haha, never read the actual date. Thanks MonoTombo for projecting that out.

I was like that in middle school. Now, I’m starting to wake up to the fact that you can’t do that when taking hard classes. In 6th grade, we had a quiz based on a chapter about the Romans, and I got about a 140% without reading the section when the average score was aaround a 50%. Because I never studied in middle school, I’m having some problems in high school figuring out how to study.

I personally absolutely despise the scum at my school who just ‘get by’ AND are smart. Being around them is the ultimate self-esteem lowerer especially if they out preform one even though they appear to not be trying. Thats why when I beat em I feel superior to their scummy pathetic forms.

In our society ppl are obsessed with the “I suck at life and am a loser” syndrome. Almost EVERYONE is self-deragatory sometimes. At my school anyway if u ask anyone about anything they’ll always be like “oh i probally failed you know” “eh dam that was hard i didnt know like anything” “blegh i prob got a 1800 on the SAT” “damn im applying to all the ivies but im prob going to cc”…

and then in teh end they get 100’s, 2400s, and accepted to HYMP.

I think this situation is complete crap

i read that and was like thats me then realized this is so old, i wonder if any of the original posters are out there and want to share how they ended up doing in college?

December of 2004 was when this thread was around??!?!?!? O_O

This was when my brother was a senior in high school…I’m a senior in high school now!!!

haha the OP perfectly described me.

I’m val of my class also. I never study for anything (except this year I’m actually studying for the SAT). The only time I study is for 5 minutes right before a test.

I’m probably gonna get destroyed in college =[

Homework on Fridays, what a concept. LOL I always put my weekend homework off until Sunday and then I feel like killing myself. I went through fresh and soph year b.s.ing and doing everything last minute with near perfect grades. Now with AP’s and CC classes, procrastination is kicking my @ss. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH why do I care so much about school. Sometimes I wonder if I’d be happier as a pot head. lol

pot heads are very happy, but the fact is that they die like the pieces of crap they are

I used to be in a situation similar to that of the OP. Now… not really anymore. I actually have to start studying (a lot)!

Strongly advise against using SparkNotes… the analysis should be wholly your own, inspired from discussions in class.

Yup…totally lazy A student lol…

minimum for an A at my school is 92%, i get by with all 92-94s lol

ya. i’m kind of the i get by type. but i don’t make the best grades. just good grades. good enough to put me in the top 5%. and i have been a “pot head” through most of high school. and i’m not a piece of crap.
