^vehicle, what is it that you do that pays 100k+ without a college degree?

vehicle, assuming that you have a small business, gross income is not the same as your actual income. It’s like having a gross income of $120k but $80k in business related expenses.

^
This is why people thnk you’re annoying. Why would he pay the “six-figure income bracket” for taxes if he has 80K in expenses?

Don’t make random assumptions, especially not ones where you think other people are stupid.

He didn’t mention taxes.

“I’m already in the six figure income bracket”

Yes he did.

Well if Vehicle is being truthful then he is making a good deal of money. I’m not sure what he meant by “the six figure income bracket” since those brakets don’t go by number of figures. Did he mean that he earns at least $100k per year or that he is at least in the 4th (or 5th) tax bracket? I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume his income is at least $100k per year. I wonder what he does for a living and for how long he has been doing it.

2008 Federal tax brackets:
1: from $0 to $8,025
2: from $8,026 to $32,550
3: from $32,551 to $78,850
4: from $78,851 to $164,550
5: from $164,551 to $357,700
6: $357,701 and above

Everything else equal, I don’t think I’ll ever pass the 3rd bracket.

I definitley know quite a few people who are in the 4th (and even 5th) bracket while still in college, so it’s not ridiculous to assume that Vehicle makes at least 78k.

I really doubt you know “quite a few” students that are making $165,000+ still in college that doesn’t directly stem from their rich family somehow.

^

Maker of Facebook is just one example. Think about startups and entrepreneurs. Michael Dell started building computers when he was in college.

yeah, but they usually don’t know they’d end up being so successful

I find it interesting that he hasnt been back on. I’m really curious to know so that I may do it too.

I believe Vehicle has said in other threads that she is a dancer.

if “she” is indeed a dancer (especially the type of dancer I have in mind) that might explain a lot of things.

So CC now has its own stripper along with its own hooker?

Reread the post. I was referring to the 78k bracket, but I do know of two people who have made more than 165k in one year at college.

Poker plus investing gets you really really far.

Just a junior in high school, though after graduating from college I plan to attend graduate school. I would like to attend graduate school in a large city such as San Diego, Los Angeles, San Fransico, Seattle, New York, Boston etc… though I won’t rule out college towns/ smaller cities completely.

coming from a family that is first generation college and upper-middle class (200k) …my parents never went to college because they came from Peru and could not.

My dad is very good at what he does…of course he always mentions that he would be at the top of his company if he were 100% fluent in english + MBA making at least 500k, and I am 100% sure he would be.

Of course you can see how I do qualify as an english speaking person who has the opportunity to attend college and that I meet all the criteria of a high earning potential individual ACCORDING to my dad…High expectations

My sister will be a dental grad very soon and will be earning a sure-thing 120k, and will more than likely be in the 300k range in the future…lemme tell you dad is happy

I will be an engineer in 2011 starting out lucky to get 75k and maybe peaking out at 100k in the distant distant future as a professional…hate to break it to the family, even my sister expects me to follow through with a career that will get me 300k a year…disillusioned by the salaries of her friends and family, oblivious to the fact that outside of med school and high business there is slim to none chance of a salary higher than 120k.

I quietly know that i will not meet their expectations no matter how hard I try in the engineering field, I know so many brilliant people going into engineering at the same time as I…We all won’t make the big bucks but im sure we will all be trying.

The expectations for a first generation college grad. are great…and almost impossible to meet.

That’s because it IS. Everything west of the Hudson is theoretical.

If 80’s level wages rose at the level of inflation, most people would be earning $80k starting. Too bad they haven’t.

Anyways, I need at least $150k net of tax to live comfortably. Of course that includes an $50k financial cushion. I need about $10k a month but I need another $4k a month on top of that to hoard for my own financial stability.

Wow the mere existence of your family would make anyone feel like a loser.
