Are your actual scores higher than practice scores?

Just wondering...I assume that one would do better in a serious environment, that is when you are taking the test.
When I do the practice test at home, I can only get 2100. Hope I will do better in may,2011 test.

Maybe the first time not, because you have to adapt yourself to the time limit

I have consistently done better on the actual test and I believe it’s because I get lazy during the practice tests. During the actual SAT, though, I stay awake, don’t get bored and I focus.

^ I agree. There are also no distractions, whereas at home there are soooo many other things to do besides practice SATs. My actual SAT was ~120 points higher than my practice tests.

For me I can say yes. The PSAT score I got was 205. I took 10 practice tests at home and never got above a 2280-2290 according to the Blue Book. I got a 2320 on the SAT.

So yes, they can differ a bit.

i think it depends on your personality. if you fizzle out under pressure, perhaps not.

i’m the girl who shows up at the sat with only one eraser-less pencil and a calculator running out of battery. on the bright side, at least i finished the test, unlike when i did practice tests at home. and i also wrote an actual essay instead of just reading the topic, though, in hindsight, it probably would’ve been better if my first sat essay hadn’t been the one on the real sat.

My actual score was a hundred points less than the single practise test I took.

Mine was about the same, probably because I treated every practice test like it was the real test…

the first time i took the actual test it was a lot lower than my practice tests (i was nervous). But the second time i took the SAT i scored about 100 points more than my average practice test score

Definitely. I only took 2 practice tests before taking the real thing (1930 and 1860). I got a 2080 on the real one by just reviewing test-taking techniques.

definitely. although it WAS my third try, i ended up getting a 2370 on my SAT I

i usually ended up with mid 2200’s in practice tests… honestly, i think putting yourself in that okay-this-one-actually-counts situation during test day makes you lot more careful and meticulous for many people to have higher scores on the actual test.
