Are your high school counselors too optimistic too?

My high school college counselor says that I have a 90% chance of admittance to my dream school (with a 13% acceptance rate) based on my GPA and ACT score in comparison to other students at my school that have been accepted. Does anyone else have over-optimistic guidance counselors?

Bump…

What’s your dream school?

My high school counselor are too pessimistic. The exact opposite.

My guidance counselor told me I could apply anywhere from the local community college to Harvard.
Not quite.

I haven’t had a single one on one conversation with my counselor. He is the most incompetent person I have ever met (based on times when he has presented info to a class or at an assembly or proctored a test). I’m honestly not sure if he knows the difference between optimistic and pessimistic…

You can APPLY anywhere. Getting accepted is a whole different story.

lol, well they’re usually only good for kids who have trouble getting into college in the first place. Usually, if you’re above average or even a competitive student, they’ll just let you take the reigns because they think you can do whatever you want.

The question is: who on CC can make better guidance counselors than the ones at your high school?
