Just curious to know if you or your kid is applying ED this fall? If so, where? Are there any who are applying even though you need a substantial financial aid package?

I applied to Carnegie Mellon early decision. CMU says they meet full 100% for ED.

Yes - to a LAC that meets full financial need with no loans. Older sibling is attending a LAC with a similar policy.

Hey, Katie had the same question!

Parents, are any of your kids completing early decision apps for college? The most popular schools for early decision: say.ly/CyNZC5

Yes - to an LAC that meets full need. (Desperately hoping their calculation of my need is close to my calculation. Ran alot of iterations on NPC with multiple schools. ) Still…more than a little scared but hoping the ED boost gets him into his far and away first choice.

Yes, to a highly-ranked OOS public that is very difficult for OOS students to get into, but which would be a relative bargain for us financially because we are not eligible for need-based aid anywhere. The kinds of schools where my D could get merit aid do not interest her as much as very selective places that only offer financial aid, not merit. We figure that if she gets in, we will pay in 4 years what other comparably ranked privates would cost us for 3. That is not, however, why she chose it. It really is her first choice.

D applied to LAC that promised - - and did in fact - - to meet 100% of need (with subsidizedloans).

S applied to Brown ED. Financial aid? I wish.
