Area Requirements Question

Hi everyone, I'm an incoming first-year in CLAS, and I have some questions about what requirements I place out of through my AP scores.

I received a 5 in Spanish language and comp. does this get me out of the literature portion under humanities, as well as the foreign language requirement?

I received a 5 on calc bc and a 5 ab subscore, a 4 on stat, a 5 on physics mechanics, and a 3 on physics e and m. Am I done with the math/science requirement? I saw ambiguously worded info on SIS which said no credit is given for MATH 1190, 1210, AND 1310. But what about 1310 individually?

Thanks!

Here are the AP credits given. You will need to bump this against your specific area requirements list to see how it all stacks up.

[Advanced Placement (AP) Exam Credit | The Undergraduate College of Arts & Sciences, U.Va.](http://college.artsandsciences.virginia.edu/ap-credit)

If this doesn’t answer your question, your best bet would be to call the university and discuss with someone in Advising.

Yea I know what credit I get, but the wording on the requirements website is kind of ambiguous, so I wanted to see if anyone knew.

Go to SIS and click on the drop down box next to my academic. Then click on transfer report. If your AP credits have registered in the UVa system then go back to the student center. Next click on my academics; then click on my advisement report. Scroll down and see if it has registered yet to view what has been satisfied for your requirements.

Not long after the AP scores come out the UVa system has this info uploaded.

The Spanish will not likely exempt you from the English composition/humanities requirement.

You should be done with math and science.

Take your scores with you when you go to orientation. There will be folks there to walk you through the class registration process.

The 5 in Spanish should exempt you from of the language requirement, but you will still have to take ENWR (freshman comp) unless you have placed out of that some other way (by AP or SAT scores, or by portfolio evaluation).

Your orientation advisor will be able to help you with the details; if you’re still unsure you can also meet with your regularly-assigned advisor in late August to go over your course plan.
