area surrounding fsu?

I have visited FSU but i didn't spend any time in the surrounding town which i see now was a mistake. I have heard that the area immediately surrounding the campus is rundown and not entirely safe. Is this true?

I just took a visit last week and I liked it.

It’s like any big university town really

Every town will have some parts that aren’t entirely safe, not counting liberal art and some ivy league schools, lol

Basically, I wouldn’t recommend you go walking around town late at night alone. But it’s really not that bad. I’ve been around by myself late, and I’ve been fine. I just don’t suggest it, nor would I suggest it anywhere else, not just FSU.
There are some homeless people, but most of them aren’t in the really busy areas. Campus is generally safe no matter where you are.
It just depends on where you plan on walking. To the strip on a weekend? Not too safe, but it gets really busy, and there is safety in numbers. Stay out of frenchtown all the time, and just follow your gut. I suggest staying as far away from the McDonald’s and the tunnel to Degraff as you possibly can.

so basically no more dangerous than any other school. Got it. Thank-you :)

You have to wander pretty far by foot to get to a bad area during the day. The immediate area surrounding FSU is mostly student housing. Now, in the dark around any college campus there is danger. Travel in groups, use your head, and stay safe.
