Well, my daughter has been looking at applying to WWU next year and we are planning a visit next Spring. But..I just read on another thread that there was a huge paper plant near campus in the 70's that (of course) made the air stink. I am wondering if anybody can confirm if this is still the case? I would rather prepare her than be unpleasantly surprised when we visit LOL

Bellingham is an old factory town that has declined somewhat, but I have never heard that the air around the town is odiferous. Are you sure you are not thinking of Tacoma and the U of Puget Sound.

Bellingham is right on the edge of The Strait of Juan de Fuca/upper Puget Sound, so you might often smell the odor of the salty sea, which I find pleasant.

I was there last month. No odor. Beautiful place.
