Hi, I answered your question in nikkei's thread. As for predicting difficulty - the only way you'll know is to take some chemistry/biology courses and seeing how well you do in them. As for pre-med and biology - there is overlap between the major's requirements and the requirements for medical school. It's not surprising that there are a lot of pre-med biomajors.

As far as I know, there is no biology minor. The neuroscience minor has courses that require you to take pre-med requirements, though....but I think it's more for people who are already majoring in a life science, since the courses in the minor have a lot of prerequisites.

Yeah, there is no biology minor (http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/Dept/minor.htm). If you decide to double major, you may have to either bulk up in courses, or take an extra year (this has ramifications siince you have to petition for those extra units, and if you're dependent on financial aid, its cut off after your fourth year in an attempt to force people to leave after 4 years to alleviate potential overcrowding). I'd advise you take the neuroscience minor (7 upper division courses on top of all the lower division pre-reqs) over the double major, since it may be difficult trying to get approval for the double major if you have to go past your unit maximum to do so.
