I move into my dorm on saturday and I fear that I might have overpacked. I'm bringing 2 large suitcases of clothing, a laundry hamper with my bed sheets and shoes, a box with a few essentials, a rug, and a laptop computer. My room is a double (183 sq feet). I fear that I'm bringing too much and I wont have storage space to share with my roommate.

Sounds pretty normal to me. Are your parents driving you? If they are, you can easily send some stuff back. If they're not, just bring it back the next time you go home.

Thanks a lot! Yeah, my parents are driving but I plan to leave the stuff there in case I need to bring some stuff home.

183 sq ft? My security guard office is bigger than that! You are in a cell not much bigger than a prisoners.

I ended up sending a bunch of stuff home with my parents and returning some stuff like a floor lamp and one of those big circular chairs. We have a small double and decided to unbunk the beds because we both hate bunk beds...so we don't have much floor space.

Like the above posters said, you can always send stuff home if there's not room.
