I am a fencer, I love my sport and I've been doing it for seven years.

HOWEVER, balancing the two has always been a challenge. My school doesn't have a fencing team because they're too stupid and I have to wander around the clubs in our area. Some of these clubs are too far, some charge ourageous prices, and some are only avaliable like, twice a month.

I am intensely jealous of people who participate in well-recognized sports. How many basketball players have a lack of teams in their area? Let's not even talk about soccer and baseball...

And to top it off, my school is in Illinois and we're the only one who has the required gym law. Our gym class consists of a bunch of asshat teachers trying to goad and threaten us into stupid activities like running around a track 2x a week and plyometrics the other three days. They won't respect that I have my OWN training plan and my OWN pace and MY plan is different and better for me then THEIR plan. I just want to beat them with a hockey stick some days.

None of my friends is even remotely interested in doing athletic-related things except for one and she does it because she adores me (but sadly, sucks at sports and is a generally useless workout partner). I'm stuck with a bunch of nerds and slakcers, rushing around to try to get to practice, and parents whining at me because of the private lesson fees. The same parents who are ethnically Polish and try to cram fried porkchops and potatoes down my throat, despite my diet and my protests that it's not healthy.

God I wish I was just good at track or ballet.*

*Not really. Sorry for the rant but god, some of these days just make me want to throttle someone.
