Honestly, is it better to use the school's application over the common application? I can't help but feel like it is... Even though the schools say they don't have a preference, what do you guys think??

Schools really don't have a preference, so don't worry about it; go with the common app. If they really liked their own app, they wouldn't be paying money each year to be a common app member.

I disagree with dmv258. Many colleges use the Common App to get more kids to apply which boosts their application rate (and revenue) and positively affects the US News ratings.

If you can use the individual app do so, but for a different reason: it implies this school is not one of 20 you are applying to AND you can exceed (if necessary) the word count limits in essays - as well as have your fonts or whatever appear as you wrote them originally.

Well, schools that sign up to participate in the common app are not allowed to favor their own application, and usually its the same thing anyway when combined with the supplement.
