My CSS/PROFILE STILL shows 'Not Received' in the Status column!!! AND the Columbia Financial Aid office is not open on weekends!!! I am trying very hard not to freak out, but I probably am just by posting this... I have sent an email to the collegeboard but no reply yet. Does anyone ANYONE else have the same problem? Or who have called the FA office yesterday and know what's going on? I saw that in 2007 there was a glitch in the system and they couldn't process it on time. So what's wrong this time??? PLEASE HELP!!!

I’m an EDer.

Ok, that was weird…I actually thought I had a reply then.

Listen the bureaucracy is a mess. Everywhere. The secret is, if your forms are a little bit late, it doesn’t really matter. Financial aid offices in particular are known for losing information.

I noticed that you are located in Beijing. Are you an American citizen? Because I don’t think international students are eligible for the same fin aid.

International. New Zealand citizen. Well, Columbia SAYS that students with family income lower than 60000 a year aren’t expected to pay tuition, room and board, and fees. Need-based aid.

OK, thanks for the reply…I think I’ll just have to wait till monday…:(

Ah you’re right, they award full-need to international students. My mistake.

Like I said, they’re more disorganized than you are, so no need to worry! One time an aid office lost a document that included my Social Security #, so I don’t have very high expectations.

I know, I think all organizations are very messy…the collegeboard got my sat score wrong the first time, and ets has a very terrible web system…
I hope they haven’t lost my profile though, but I’m sure a lot relieved after what you said:) Thanks again!

this post will in no way be helpful, but i thought i would let you know that your third post made me laugh out loud!!!

Don’t worry, you can still submit your forms after (if) you’re accepted. The only upside to submitting them on time is that you get your award at the same time as your decision (to help you make your decision better).

About international fin. aid, they promise full need, but your application’s outcome could be affected by the fact that they know you need full aid.

Why would my third post make you laugh out loud…I did NOT think my second post was the reply if that’s what you thought. There was a reply from some person and then when I refreshed it it wasn’t there anymore:)

Epaminondas, thanks. Ok, now I know they won’t be looking at how much electricity I use a month when deciding my rejection…that’s a relief.:)

aww well i feel stupid then

Ok, don’t. Perfectly understandable:) I’m glad I made you laugh.

so an incomplete financial aid app doesn’t necessarily bar you from admission?

^oh no, the two offices are separate

whew, thanks. I was hoping so. They never received my parent’s tax returns and w-2s and sent an e-mail on the 30th requesting them. I faxed them asap, but I was still anxious about the approaching deadline. but now my fears are somewhat eased.
